Default Weird tacho Problem

Hi there,

I bought my first AU the other week and so far I am loving it. (series 1 XR6 vct manual)

I have a weird problem, on start up the tacho needle wont move for a few seconds or jumps about like it is having a fit. Once it stops being psycho it will read higher than it should. it still moves as I accelerate but once cruising at 100kmph the tacho reads 3000rpm. then the next trip it will read 2500rpm at 100.

All other gauges work perfectly except 1 globe is blown down near the odometer.

I have searched this forum for common problems but couldn't find anything that was the same as mine.

Cheers

Usually dash gauge issues are from poor earthing.

Check your grounding points for wear.

I will do that, although wouldn't it affect other gauges as well like the speedo as is what I have read in my search?

My old AU1 Futura used to do it. Tacho only. Its fun to watch.

And my old Fairmont did it with the Oil pressure gauge only.

Both times it was crappy earth.

Worth a shot at least
