Default EA-ED or EF-AU Intake Manifold?

Hi boys (and girls)..

I can get an EF manifold off a mate for free and im just wondernig if its
even worth the hasstle of installing it into my EB? Mods are listed in my signature below. I think i remember someone saying the EB one flows more?

Brent

Its not worth it unless you plan to change to an EL ecu to take advantage of the dual runner setup offered by the BBM to get some more low down torque.

EA is not bigger, it might be about 10mm longer but it has smaller intake runners, the eb/ed have bigger intake runners, I have both sitting in my garage.

As Jase said the BBM is better for N/A if you're willing to stuff around to make it work. Otherwise the ED one is the most desirable.

That would be the airbox to throttle body piping that is bigger on the EA. You could do better again with something custom, though. It just wouldn't be as flexible.

wit the BBM better for N/A cars, can i ask how that works? say if u were to get a turbo for the e-series with a bbm installed, would u gain more with it or goin more wit the orignal manifold, also, what about ef-l when there turbed?

Just bolt it on and away you go, change the accelrator cable, add the wires for the vaccumm runner switch and have a nice day. If you have cruise control you will have to work out a way to attach the cruise cable.

Ok, so what yaz are saying is that id be better off changing the EA manifold for an ED one? If so does anyone in brisbane have an ED one?

Your are supposed to, but with a bit of bending and effort you can keep the existing heater lines this is all I have done (but you have to drain the coolant as the heater pipe runs between the middle of some of the runners), and although most change the dipstick as well, a little bend and you can use the existing one as well.

BBM is good for torque for N/A cars, but as an example of what I'm saying, Adrien Vella put an ED manifold on his 10.2 second 4.0 EL turbo.
