One of those movies where people either love it or they hate it.

I liked it.

Absolutely awesome movie. Loved it. Does anyone know if the stunts performed by Zoe (the New Zealander) were real?

Yes...her stunts were real. She's a very highly regarded stunt woman around Hollywood circles, & Tarantino is a big fan of hers, which is why he used her in the movie (according to a Tarantino interview I saw).

Here you go http://www.canmag.com/nw/7295-zoe-bell-planet-terror

She's a stunt double for Uma Thurman in Tarantino's previous movie's...

Great movie by the way, I watched it again the other night and liked it even more, at first it seemed to drag on a bit but watch it a few times and you begin to appreciate the character development.

That Challenger sounds GREAT!!...

It wasn't a bad movie but what was the point of it? Was just silly.

Tarantino does irk me with his artsy fartsy additions. Watching the girls in the car and their dialogue was annoying the crap out of me since the backgrounds they were driving past were never consistant or the film glitching and repeating from time to time. I was spending more time focusing on the background than I was on what was being said.

I'd consider it the weakest of all his movies. When you take a step back and think about the movie as a whole, it just doesn't stack up. At least it was linear though.

No Country For Old Men - now there's a pointless movie that's a hoot to watch. In fact, I think I'll pop it in now.

I liked it cause it was different. But i liked Planet Terror better.

For those of you who dont know, Death Proof was supposed to be realeased as a double feature with Planet Terror (directed by rodriguez), meaning Planet Terror was to play straight after it after a short intermission. The two films were supposed to be realeased as "Grindhouse". Back in the 60's/70's, there were certain "B" grade theatres (grindhouses) playing "B" grade movies that had scratched film, spools or parts of the movies missing, and were just plain shonky (which is why Death Proof was purposely glitchy and had certain parts reapeating etc, to give it a grindhouse feel).

The version we got here was crap. It was supposed to be realeased with the other film, and was also supposed to have fake trailers before each film. I was actually lucky enough (as i work in the movie industry) to hear about a certain art theatre that was playing "Grindhouse", the way it was supposed to be realeased for a week only. And i have to say the experience was soooo much better. The fake trailers starred A list actors such as Nick Cage and were quite funny. The films were fairly shorter, and also got to watch planet terror on the big screen. I will have to say its been my best movie experience to date.

I enjoyed death proof as it had muscle cars and hot chicks in it. Zoe Bell is a babe and gave me a hard on when she was on that bonnet of that "Vanishing Point" challenger. Its the stuff my dreams are made of....

My thoughts as well. I thought Tarantino was being a tad self indulgent with the chick chit chat, and fast forwarded through that part of the movie.

I thought it was entertaining, worth seeing with some great moments. Nothing exceptional overall though, compared to the Tarantino classics...

If you're in Melb, catch both features on the big screen from Thursday 20th till Sunday 30th:

Screenplay was written by Tarantino, from a Robert Kurtzman story.

I wanted to see what happened when they took the car back, and I wanted to see what "Jasper" had gotten up to..... felt like bits were missing.

Overall 4/10 - I want my ~ 90 minutes back.
