Apologies if this has been talked about before. But what kind of fuel economy is everyone getting?
In my FG, I was getting normally around 10.3 going by what it shows in the car, but now it's down to 9.6! Not that I'm complaining at all, especially considering after reading that they usually drink around 11L per 100. The petrol I use is BP Premium Unleaded 95. |

FPV FG F6 310 Euro IV update:
16.7L/100km 80% city, 20% highway driving. I swap between BP Ultimate and Shell V-Power 98, not a drop of 91 or 95 has or ever will run through her veins. |

If I drive it and try to keep it "off boost" or very low boost then I average 14-ish, however a few squirts from 0-60 or coming onto the highway and it's back up to 15L+ Mind you I've only got 5000km on her, apparently they get a little better as time goes on (so I hear).

XR5 Turbo. 90-95% City Driving. Most peak hour. Avg Speed 27kmph (reset every tank).
11l / 100km taking it very easy. 13-14l giving it stick.

This thread (or parts of it) provides anecdotal evidence of something I've suspected for a long time - the "gas guzzling" reputation Falcons suffer from is a half truth at best.
It seems to me that a great many 4 cylinder care are only good for 10s around the city and 7s on the highway. Well in my G6E I regularly saw 11s in the city and always saw 7s on the highway. Give a Falcon some boot and sure it will drink (so will a 4). Drive it sedately and you lose very little in terms of economy. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. |

my MPS6 consumes 14.5l/100 (100% city) like clockwork.
i do drive it firmly, but my rubbish clutch prevents alot of smooth driving. thing is, if i brain the car i get 14.5l/100, or drive it like grandma i get 14.5/100. 250-260 km from 50$ BP ultimate, week in week out. i think its got issues somewhere, but not sure where. Ice |

13l/100kms of LPG
12.5l/100kms on 91 ULP Thats about 60% freeway, 40% urban in my 4spd 3V. Not a lead foot, not a granny. Just drive smooth with the occasional squirt.

My 2011 XR50 ZF auto mainly all city driving and I get around 10.7 when using Caltex Vortex 98 and I get about 11.6 when using Caltex 91.
I put the boot in every now and then but I do like to be first from the lights. Although coming from a quick WRX, I'm enjoying the slower pace

LPG 20L(HWY)-25L(City) / 100km on a crappy fairmont eb v8
least economical car ive ever driven. ive owned 3 6 cylinder falcons that were better cars in every respect, i see no practicle reason anymore to own a v8. - for speed and sound - i have 2 motorcycles, a fast high revving 4 cyl that beats any car in speed, and a tought v-twin that sound better then any v8. both cost far far less then a car. |

On the highway with the cruise on we regularly return 8ltr/100k in the G6E or sometimes a bit less if it's a nice long flat stretch. Premium on a long trip really makes a difference....but the criminal way they charge us so much more for premium in Australia doesn't really make sense to keep using it...the difference is there, it just isn't enough to make up for the extra cost which can sometimes be nearly 10 cents more a liter.
Funnily enough, our '82 Celica with a two liter and five speed (all original and well-tuned, standard except for a Ram Flo foam air cleaner) with the air con on (actually, even with the air con off...) and sitting at highway speeds gets way worse economy than our G6E...ain't technology and thirty years of progress wonderful? |
