Default 1983 KB Project

Hi All,

I've had this for a while and never posted pics, its just a clean granny spec Laser, original 64k on it. Plans are to keep it stock and tidy for a bit of Australian history.

Thanks all!

I need to add a few bits here and there but, I'm really lucky on what I bought it with. I know it's only a Laser, but I stock cars, there is something about really tidy period spec cars, no matter what year they are that gets me.

It is technically a bit of Australian car history too, as this one was put together at the Sydney plant.

$5k nowadays, damn.
I'll try to make the time find pics of mine.
That French Blue was beautiful, had a sun roof/tint and 16" mesh rims with 50 profile tyres, handled like a go kart and its launch off the street light surburban drags did very well for a 1.5 twin carb, was a sexy looking bit of Ford Sydney Homebush build.

I learnt to drive on an 83 Ghia manual, great car to learn on. Rust got it in the end, mum lived near Nobby's beach in Newcastle and the salt spray claimed my buddy MIT364 back in 2005.

Yours looks brand new, a real keeper!

Also a contributing factor in Fords market dominance through the 80's.

Such a great car. Made me smile seeing such a well kept car. Look after her.

Wow that's mint ... looks like it just rolled off the production line.

My parents had an 83 GL manual in yellow.
Such a great little car ... trouble-free .... ran off the smell of an oily rag. Went forever

Yeah $5k, and to be honest, it's about right these days, 80s Japanese stuff is slowly creeping up, if the seller said yes to $3500-$4k I'd take it. It's actually really difficult to find well kept cars, you wouldn't think it considering how many were built!

Apparently they built Laser at Broady too?

I had a KB Laser Ghia in red with brown/tan interior. It was the 5spd manual and ran on the smell of an oily rag. I regret selling it, it was a million times more reliable than the Patrol that replaced it. Your vehicle is a fine example, don't let it go!

Not sure if they accept a stocker like this .... but some forum members are in a street scene club that does Historic rego ... and do breaky runs and laps at Willowbank (I think it is monthly)

I found photos .... just got given to me after my Mum passed.
So many great memories.

Have pics of it next to our TE Cortina in the driveway.

Never though I'd come across them again.

Thanks for the info! I think I might just have to go down the normal rego road, it seems too hard and not really worth it to be honest!

Nice that's very clean.

I used to have a red kb sport with a fuel injected turbo motor in it when I was young, was a wicked little car.

I had one as my first car, bought it off my sister when I was 16. '83 KB Auto, 5 dr blue.
Saved up to buy some no name radials to replace the retreads it had on it, I felt like Kerry packer, all the cars in our family only ever had retreads.
At 200k the engine smoked itself to death (well defected) so I parked it up for 6 months to save for a low Kay unleaded jap import motor. They were simpler times.

A photo of a photo

These were a great little car indeed. Never broke down ever. This one was a 5-speed manual 1.5L GL

Hope you don't mind me posting in here.
