Default NSW Eurofordclub January 2007 Cruise - Final Details Posted

Some of us are wanting to do a cruise sometimes mid Jan '07. One person suggested Wisemans Ferry. Just wondering how many of yous are interested.

MISTA FIESTA suggested :-

Thornleigh Maccas -> Galston Gorge -> Berowra Waters -> Old Pacific Highway -> then back through Wisemans Ferry.

I'd say that route is fcukin' A.

I've posted up a poll on which dates everyone would be available.

Yes, that's my main concern as well... If they have a ramp for lowered cars, I've never seen them care enough to pull it out. I might just do the Galston Gorge part or something when the plans are finalised. Not being stingy on the distance, but I don't particularly want to "risk" the ferry.

Its not that bad. My mate's Renault Clio 1.6 which sits lower then the Fiesta & Focus from what I've seen only scraped if he went straight down into the ferry, at an angle it was fine.

Now how low some people's cars are is a different matter....

I would be very suprised if they actually do have anything to assist lowered cars getting on.....

Just a note guys, Wisemans Ferry is a pretty decent drive in there, plus you have to either back track the way you came or you go out the other way accross the ferry and you end up back at McGraths Hill (which is near Windsor), just something to keep in mind

the drive to Wisemans Ferry is fun though and I wouldnt mind doing it again. The club did it a while back, photos: http://www.eurofordclub.com/gallery/wisemansferry

day cruises are much easier to manage.. eg if someone falls just a little way behind they stop being a ford and start looking like a bloke running around with two torches ;)

besides which driving swiftly during the day is much easier, not to mention safer

Yeah, it wouldnt be fun/fair for the people with lowered car to go back half-way on the cruise if we're doing the Wisemans Ferry cruise. So I've been thinking of doing a royal national park run... stop at Wollongong somewhere for some lunch and most likely we continue on to Macquarie Pass. After Macquarie Pass we can chuck a U'y and back track all the way up to Sydney.

I've driven on the royal national park and it's a great drive with some twisties. That plus Macquarie Pass.... double in a day.

Full details will be up by the end of the week. Most likely we'll go on the Saturday 20th January.

I'm in for the 20th.

Wiseman's Ferry or National Park - both are great drives, road surface is reasonable and twistie bits are terrific.

If you are looking for something a little more relaxed and scenic (even if to go by yourself) take the scenic route from Sydney to Wollongong, through Austinmer, Stanwell Tops etc. It has spectacular views, nice places to stop for a breather and a some fun roads too.

I can't make it fellas, I'll be driving back home from Gold Coast. Enjoy!

Don't forget about the 3 hairpins. 2 are 35kmh right turns I normally do 55kmh, the one between Otford and Bald Hill a left at 25kmh, I'll do that speed because you don't know whats on the other side (bikes cutting corners etc)
