Default All-new Mazda3 leaked

Quote:
The all-new Mazda3 has apparently been leaked online.

Images originally posted on AutoTribute purportedly show the new-look small car, and the pictures have since surfaced on numerous websites around the world, with the pictures originally showing up in a Japanese magazine.

The images have not been confirmed to be official by Mazda, however they appear more convincing than previous apparent leaks.

The car features almost identical front-end styling to the larger Mazda6, and sports far more sleek body lines compared to the current car.

The all-new Mazda3 is expected to be unveiled in the coming months, and could be on sale here before the end of 2013.

Details are yet to be confirmed, but the new Mazda3 is likely to be offered with a range of the brand's "SkyActiv" engines as seen in other models such as the CX-5 SUV. They include a 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder for the majority of models, a 2.0-litre turbo diesel option, and possibly a 2.5-litre version for the sportier SP25 model.

Mazda Australia spokesman Steve Maciver told Drive: "We have not released any official images on Mazda3, or on any other future product for that matter".

The current-generation Mazda3 has been the highest-selling car in Australia over the past two years, but in 2013 it is under pressure from the Toyota Corolla which has seen a sales jump over the past few months.

a little early to pass judgement but so far a much more improved front than the smily faced current model.

Hopefully they keep the current trend of MPS styling and leave it subtle.
I am more concerned about how they will improve the dynamics of the MPS, the last two have been torque steer monsters.

From what I understand the new 3 will not be based on the Focus platform, can anyone confirm/deny this? The 6 no longer uses the Mondeo platform and has used the CX5.

I don't believe they will be making a MPS version of the new 3. The 2.3 DI Turbo is likely to die with the current version. If Mazda start turning a profit globally (that's a big iff) they may throw money into developing a new turbo mil based on the 2.5 motor.

Pretty predictable given the theme of Mazda at the moment, just take that look and plaster it on anything you like. MX5 maybe being the exception.

I like the design, and really like the mazda 6.

Sorry, but the Focus is the smartest looking small car at the moment. That Mazzy 3 just looks like same old same old.

The 6 and Mondeo were never related. The Fusion was previously based on the 6.

If they are moving away from Focus it would be a big call, but they're certainly moving out of sync with Ford ever since the Mk2 Focus/1st gen 3/S40-V50 were all put on a common platform with joint engineering.
