Hi Everyone,
Now Because Goulburn NSW is a small town and we only have a few car Dealers in Town i wont write were i took my Mondeo to but most of you will guess anyway. As a lot of you know i love my car and its done now 362921 ks. Two weeks ago i heard a noise and took it this place to get checked out. I asked them also " can you also check the Power Steering Pump as i think its making a noise also. I picked the car up in the afternoon and was told "the Power Steering Pump and the Power Steering is all ok. They told me " The noise is bearings in the engine and it needs a full rebuild". They never offered to fix my car or even give me a price and just told me to take it to a engine rebuilder. I found a really nice down to earth guy who checked the car out last Tuesday and then phoned me and told me the trouble. It needed two new pulleys on the Idler and Tensioner and new belt and the Power Steering Pump had to be replaced also as it was noisy. The motor it self was perfect he said, it cost $1,288 but he did a great job and the car again is very quite. |

Can’t say i’ve ever heard worn bearings in an engine are audible. Only sign is usually low oil pressure.

I suspect I know the dealer. Has a first name as the name for the dealer. Run. Run as far as you can. The same person once managed the mitsu/hyundai dealer in town.
Are you still running!!!!!

Hi guys,
To answer Bevista question on what engine does my Mondeo have? Its the Zetec 2.3 litre engine and at the time when my wife and i brought the car we were living in Sydney. At the time we had a little place Holiday home down the South Coast first near Nowra then we sold that place and got another one near Batemans Bay. Thats why so many Ks on the car we would go down there every weekend. Then we went on a Holiday and drove the great ocean road in Victoria, then went to Adelaide. When we brought the car the salesman who sold it to us said " its got a sealed transmission so you dont need to get it serviced". About two weeks later i drove my wife up to pick her car up after getting it serviced and i happen to mention the sealed transmission to the mechanic that did my wifes car. He came out and opened the bonnet and looked around and found the transmisson dipstick and said "its not a sealed transmisson and your lucky its not because some are big trouble. That Mondeo has been good to me over the years, so i am good to it also. My wife said not long ago "why dont you get another car'? I told her " with the amount of Ks the Mondeo got on it a Dealer would give me if i am lucky $2,000 dollars for it. To me its the fact that the car has never let me down, it starts every time, its comfortable and still nice to drive, everything still works on it and i do the oil change myself and get the brakes, transmission, etc done by a Mechanic. A lot of guys on this site Love there car's and i am no different. i remember when COVID first hit and at the time i was out of work ( did find a job last September). I decided to change the cabin Filter and what a bugger of a job that was but i got it done. To me that Mondeo is more then a car its my mate! |

Sealed transmissions = not expected to be a problem for the 'life' of the factory warranty.
After that, when it stuffs up and you take it back for them to look at they would advise that you should have serviced it.
