O.k ya'll I found this on my non car forum today and this 1.2hr documentary is VERY disturbing......Yes we are all Ford fans here but we are also very concerned about the manufacturing industry in both Oz and the U.S.
This doco explains it all and it is quite literally frightening and has taken place since China joined the World Trade Organistation in 2001. 57,000 factories have left the U.S for China, Massive water and air pollution occurring in China now all to cut costs while poisoning the people, and massive currency manipulation by the Chinese government against the all powering USD. Not to mention the Chinese military complex is FIVE TIMES bigger than the U.S and its all state of the art. They have even hacked into Google and stolen the codes and copied it to use in China. Mind boggling stuff happening and really not sure how western countries are going to look in 5 years time with so many jobless??? Anyone concerned about their manufacturing jobs should watch this it will scare the **** out of you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avqxtFOCnnY |

Haven't had the time to watch it but is it a real doco or propaganda?
There's plenty of anti Muslim, anti China stuff around, mostly created to stir up fear and hatred |

Are they able to feed their population?
Warren Buffet recently said the future is in food, production and investment. Our government is selling food producing areas to foreign buyers as fast as it can for a quick dollar, the next 20 years will be interesting. |

Yes. My judgement of the doco is that it is real and not just propaganda.....The Chinese have tricked the U.S by offering cheap factories and currency etc to supply to U.S but they are also taking the technology know how so they can eventually take all that industry away from U.S aswell.
So now they have the tech to build even more powerful military that is just as advanced as U.S. Good one U.S government! It was Bill Clinton that did the deal in 2001. |

"China have all the machines"
We have none and we gave them all away, it wasn't smart. Reminds me of the thread about GM and the Holden name. No one had even noticed GM stopped Holden using that name on the cars a long time ago. |

It's a shift in the worlds power, history shows that all empires and power house countries eventually decline and lose control, and some disappear. Don't forget that was the US not so long ago which lasted for decades. Whilst were more accustomed to a US controlled planet and currency it was never going to last forever especially with the corruption poor leadership and out right greed.
In regards to the manufacturing, remember that middle class China is increasing which means higher wages and a higher standard of living. Fast forward 20-30 years in the future and China will be importing vastly more than it is today because it will eventually again be cheaper to manufacture in the US. That being said, living standards in the US (and the majority of the western world), will continue to decline. There is far from enough money and resources in the world to sustain a growing middle class, there needs to be an offset somewhere and unfortunately it's the US and the rest of the western world (including Australia) It's a competitive greedy world out there, sad but true!

In my opinion, the reason China is where it is today is because of Western nation's greed. If it wasn't for greedy consumers demanding more for less, greedy unions demanding more pay than they deserve, and greedy corporations trying to maximise profit, China would still be where it was 50 years ago.
The Chinese haven't tricked anyone into anything, they can't even build apartment buildings that stand up straight for goodness sake. China hasn't had an original idea of it's own for centuries, that's why they steal all our technology. That's why I don't believe that China are a real threat to the Western world.

That is the Chengdu J-20, a bona fide 5th generation fighter jet that China is going to field over the next 5 to 10 years. Also take note of the tailhook. This aircraft will pick up where China's SU-27xx fleet leaves off and provide China with the ability to project power into airspace well south of the Chinese mainland - some would say (with 1 air-air refuel to assist) as far south as the sea-air gap between Australia and Indonesia. Yes they might be a bunch of pirates that blatantly copy things, but this has gotten them places and will continue to do so. That successful Lunar expedition last year was a warning shot to the West: "we've arrived."

It`s the peoples fault too. Much rather have 15 pairs of shoes made in China than 3 pairs made in their own country.

Is this coming from people who think WW3 will break out? Im not completely naive but I just could not see how any major country would even attempt to "take over" another these days. Maybe if we dropped Pauline Hanson on them or something perhaps?
Not by force, maybe via investments..which makes me wonder why nations continue to build such weapons etc, all they seem to be good for are knocking down the odd rogue dictator when they hark up.

The doc says the Chinese gov are even copying patents/designs of all sorts.
I think they really have taken the U.S for a ride and the U.S cant fight because they're military base is five times bigger! Its really all this 'Globalisation' stuff going on and the major corps not caring about U.S workers and just offshoring to save some dollars. CAT, GM, Ford, GE and even Boeing plus many many more! |

Why all the concern that the US is losing power and influence, is that because it's the home of Ford

Whoohoo the Catholic Church will be happy to hear they've been surpassed!
IMHO China is doomed as a future powerhouse thanks to their "one child policy". If anyone has been there recently you will see the next generation is a spoilt brat pack that doesn't have the same drive as their parents and grand parents but again I say this only my opinion. Geoff |
