I just have to wait for a reply now.

yeh that's what I'm going for.

Hopefully they say it is legal, I'm 60% sure it is.

If it is, and I get pulled over, I can always refer to the cops to the email ;)

Why would you care how your P-plates look? At the end of the day they are just p-plates...

Cause my car is the same color as yours and it looks better with the red background ;)

Why do you wash your car? To make it look that bit better...

same reason.

Is it legal to drive with L-plates if you have your full licence?

The reason I ask is that I see many people driving their cars with L plates on because their child learns and they have forgotten to take the plates down.

Do they still give you the shitty plastic plates when you pass. I remember I used to leave them up all the time and it in the nice summer heat they melted.
Seriously just leave the normal ones up you start putting a different coloured plate on and it just makes you stand out even more which isn't a good thing.

No it's not and they can get $100 fine per plate if they catch a cop on a bad day

And the White on Red thing is illegal, I think it's meant to be for 2nd year P platers in NSW?

I haven't had problems with melting p-plates. Although my previous ones became so faded that you could actually see the L (on the back) more clearly than the P...

Even if they arent illegal, they would still be not 'normal'.
Why go out of your way to attract police attention?

You will come off as a smart *** when you pull out your email.
Might not get done for the P-plates, but $50 says the cops could find something if you encourage them.

Your in the ACT and are displaying a NSW (VIC/SA/QLD to be) P2 plate. You can do this on an ACT registered car, police will assume you are a NSW P2 plater driving an ACT car.

The NSW 100km/h P2 'license condition' speed-limit does not apply in ACT as ACT does not limit P plate speeds.

Nah...P's in NSW suck big time....you now have to have red P's on white for 12 months...once you have sucessfully evaded the AR Cops in Syd for that long without losing your licence with the 4 points that you havem you get green P's on white for a further 2 years. Not only does this draw more attention to those of us that can actually drive, you have to do a computer test for your L's, then a Road test for your red P's, another 'Hazard Perception test' on teh computer for your Green P's, and then another computer test which combines the L's and Green P's computer tests....and at $35 a pop...plus licence fees, you've payed well in excess of $250-300 to get your 'normal' licence. Now they've stopped the 'Gold' licence being a reward for good driving for 5 years and they offer it to any 20 year old that is eligible to get off their Green P's. I hate the way teh government are revenue farmers, but we just have to cop it sweet.

Subject: P Plates - Enquiry

Hello,

Just wondering if it is legal in Western Australia to display 'P Plates'
but with a red background with the white P?

Thanks.
Looks like it's all good to go

Now where do I find them ;)

While where on the topic, lets say you come from vic with red p'plates and enter NSW? what happens there? can the VIC citizen still where those p's or do they have to be changed to NSW regulations?

Would anyone like to send me some plates

Not that dodgy plastic ones, but the soft plastic rubber foldy ones with holes in them.

I'll get a pic soon

Anyone generous?
