Default Perth People

So tell me about the best things to do in Perth..

I am heading West for 6 months on a FI/FO Mon-Fri with the odd weekend spent there. What should I enjoy and what should I avoid.

Pretty open minded and if anyone is in the CBD happy to share/shout a beer.

Depends what you want to see and do craig. Northbridge and the city are ok during the day but northbridge gets a bit feral late at night. Freo`s a nice place to spend a day, lots of pubs, cafes etc, quite pleasing on the eyes too
The OBH has a good sunday sess (overlooking the beach). rottnest is also a good day trip.

Prepare for them to baulk at you when you say you're from Victoria They seem to hate Victorians and New South Welshmen for some reason, at least that was my experience anyway.

Orginally from Perth, I know of heaps of things to do over there, but it all depends on what you are into.

If you like photography, there are some great spots to take photos from, Kings Park, the war memorial in Freo, Margaret River wine region...heaps of places.

As for things to do...again, depends on what you want to do or are into. If you want to see live bands or sit in a pub soaking up the atmosphere, then Clancy's or Little Creatures in Freo are the go.

You can always visit Freo markets, go to Cottesloe beach (great beach btw - summer or winter)

Scarborough Beach or Hillary's marina are always good places to go too North of the River. Walking along the Sand bar at Point Walter is also a pretty relaxing thing to do.

Rottnest Island is also a good day trip.

Then you have all the museums, art galleries etc.

One thing I will say about Perth, it is definitely slower than Melbourne or Sydney...more relaxed and laid back. No one is really in a hurry to get to where they are going. Not like in Melbourne....Sheesh!

Let us know what your interests are, and a few of us that are on here from Perth (or that have lived in Perth) will be able to point you in the right direction.

Cheers
Col
