Hi All

have seen various cars around my area with blue, red, green parker lights, to my understanding this is illegal and my vicroads research has confirmed, does anyone know the penalties for using these lights or if any police forum members know??

i had green ones on my fairlane ( hey its green, they suited) ever since i bought it 4 years ago and only changed them this year cos im over it.....they never even got looked at let alone having an issue with them

the only time i'd imagine there'd be an issue is

A, you be a dick to the policeman thats pulled you over for something else or
B, you have a stupid combo (ie red and blue, or red and blue flashing{yes you can buy led parkers that flash red and blue})

I was out with a mate about 12 months ago and he was pulled over for it and fined, wouldn't even let off with a warning. Nothing stupid was involved the cop said it was just the lights that got his attention. $135 and 1 demerit point from memory, I was shocked you actually lose points for it.

There could be huge ramifications if you put red ones in the front, specially if you were to have a head on just on dusk with your parkers on coz someoen thought it was the back of a car.

I wouldnt do it.

This is in Victoria:

I got a warning the other month for having blue parkers on during the day. They are not illegal to have , however. they are illegal to have on whilst the vehicle is running. Its similar to all the undercar neons, in that its a no no while they car is in motion

my question is where do they stand if they are yellow? (there foglights officier)

Thats right, there should be no red lights on the front of your car, green should be fine as would yellow, orange ect.

One of my friends had blue parkers on his R33 Skyline. When he bought the car, it already had them. Shortly after he got a canary for that and the ride height (Vicroads found the ride height was completely legal). He had to put normal globes in.

But that could be the same as red.
Yellow might be the traffic lights in the mirror? Yellow orange the same.

So the blue xenon bulbs you can buy to replace your headlight bulbs are illegal?

BMW have these standard.

Your only allowed to have white on the front & red on the rear of your car. The police say "Its possible someone might get confused with the direction you are travelling" yeah right. Thats what I was told when warned for it anyway. I had the original ones in boot, swapped em over while police was watching and off I went.

I have got red ones in my ED. Ive never been hassled with them before and I get around with them on during the day because my thermos are wired to the parkers, but I havnt had them all that long. I'm more concerned about getting hit for my new tinting :P
