Thought i might share what ive been doing for the past few weeks.

Very nice. Should go very well too. What's the rest of the driveline? A mate has the same spec engine with a 3500rpm convertor and 4.11's. I find his car is very enjoyable to drive.

The rest of the driveline is a rebuilt C4 with a stage 2 kit, and a 3000Rpm Converter, and a nine inch is soon to be on the way with 3.9's and LSD.

My last combo was pretty much the same as that and it was a great thing to drive. It was my daily driver for 4 years and never missed a beat. I only had a 2500 stall but it had 3.5 diff gears and with all the talk about 4v's being sluggish down low it was still pretty quick off the line.

i did consider them... were just going to get her up and running and see how she goes. If it is a bit "boggy" down low i will fit them.

That engine combo will be good for around the 450 HP area, and be a dream to drive. I know of several people with this engine/cam combo with both 2v and 4v heads, and they range around 447 HP to 465 HP from memory. This combo is an excellant drivers combo, specially with 4 speed and 3.5 diff, and I will be also interested to see how it performs, as this is what I will upgrade mine too also.

You will be. Are your heads big port 4v? or small port 2v? If they are big ports, let me know how she goes, as I said thats the exact combo mine will be when I freshen it up some, and the Port Stuffers are what I am tossing up on doing at the moment, as a few people swear by them, and some say they are not worth the cost to fit...

Ahh yes, afta re looking the pics over, I saw the 4.
Will be very interesting to see how it all works now.
A few people have said not to waste time with the port plates, but get the proper stuffers instead, so will be interesting to see how it all pans out without them in yours.
When do you think you will have the engine and car mobile again?

Looks mad. Love the way it all comes together nice and clean and tidy. Those ports are huge, the valves looked pretty big too, what size are they?

Excuse the ignorance, but what are these port plates or port stuffers you are talking about?

You can get screw in tongues or the cheaper version port plates, basically they make the port smaller which increases wind speed, it makes it a more efficient flow to the chambers, it helps the bottom end lag in 4v's and increases torque with a small power gain, see here:

looks good i run the same motor except 2v heads i dont think your mechanical pump will keep up with it thou i had to change to a electric fuel pump to supply enuff fuel.

So you buy the bigger port 4V and then add tongues to reduce the size? I don't know anything about the differences between 4V and 2V heads, but why not just use 2V heads and install bigger valves and stuff. What other things besides port and valve size does the 4V have over the 2V?

2V's need a lot of $ to get the same potential as a stock set of 4V's with tongues.
