Angry Tight-arsedness to a new low

Last week I noticed something odd while driving my 5 month old FG XR6. The driver's side wiper blade appeared to have shrunk a few centimetres. The windsreen is dirty so I can see the blade wasn't covering the same area and it wasn't cleaning well.

On closer inspection later in the day I discovered that some $#%^ had swapped wiper blades - they took my new one and replaced it with an older one! The rubber insert was frayed and the finish on the blade was mucher duller than the blade on the passenger side clearly indicating the old blade had been exposed to the elements for a few years.

Haha, if they where genuine Ford wiperblades, they must be made out of gold for how much they want to charge.

A thief with a conscience!. Most would have just nicked the blades and not replaced them.

The best thing I have seen is when a girl and her father came in to service their car at the dealership I was working at, and we suggested all these things up for replacement, like brake pads and wiperblades, etc. The workshop manager had phoned her up and she said yes to everything.

The service had come to just under $1000, and the father went nuts about $80 wiperblades and $200+ brakepads.

I've never heard of someone stealing used wiper blades....it'd be like stealing then wearing someone else old undies, you just wouldn't do it...

The price is perfectly reasonable since they are trico blades and you'll pay more at Ricerbarn for the same thing.

I was looking into them, but they dont list a replacement for my Fiesta, only the older models.

So far the only people I've seen who sell them is Ford, you have to replace the whole wiper linkage, you can't just buy inserts.

Completely agree mate. It's cost me a fortune over my 5 years of driving but if i wanted to drive i had to pay for my car and comprehensive insurance.
No insurance, no car was what was put to me.

This threads gone a little off topic...

Makes you wonder what some people are thinking...Why swap a wiper blade??

In situations like this, it is lucky although unfortunate that it happened but it could have been worse.

Fair call mate and i'll correct my position slightly. Insurance as we know is essential. I firmly believe that law enforcement agency should be able to run insurance checks on vehicles, If a vehicle is shown to have no insurance and the driver/owner is unable to provide proof of insurance they should have the power to remove that driver and vehicle from the road for a period of time. Similar to the "hoon laws"(i hate that phrase) only actually making a difference.

I believe the UK have a similar system.

Its just like how if you put something out on the nature strip with a big sign on it "FREE", it will stay there for weeks, but then take the sign away and 2 days later its gone.

Low-lives but also interesting that they actually bothered to put another one in yours.

It's like someone stealing your wheels and putting stockies back on.

my vote is to send you to the uk to see how stupidly restrictive their insurance rules are.
Third party property insurance is plenty, why the hell should everyone be forced to fork out for full comp?
what a bloody stupid idea

my point was not to enforce full comp. On everybody but force at least third party on everybody. It's a pretty simple line of thought, no insurance you're not allowed on the road. if you read my last post i actually corrected my stance on the matter slightly.

However if you're happy for the uninsured to crash into you then that's your call not mine.
