Hi all, just lately car has been getting fumey, especially if sitting, idling and coming to a stop after a Highway run. No smoke. No loss of power, idle a bit rough at times.
I have had vehicle serviced, new filters, including cabin filter. Also had a forced regen. Exhaust is ok according to mechanic. Where else do I look. Could it be injector seals. Cheers |

Have a look at inst. fuel consumption.
It sounds to me typical of a filter-burn.

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
The car injects additional, heated diesel into the filter to achieve a soot burn-off. If this happens whilst stationary, you will hear a pulsing of the exhaust note, and a significant increase in ist. fuel consumption. Did a dealer do the forced burn-off for you. I had one want to charge a ridiculous amount to do one, even when combined with a service :-/

OK. I had a regen occur whilst driving in to work this morning.
Inst fuel was 2.5L/hr idling. Up from around 1 normally.

If a seal is leaking it coats everything with a light film of diesel which burns off as the engine gets hot, and ends up like bitumen. Be very careful tightening the injector clamps, they look strong but they're very brittle. |

Your mechanic might be able to get them from overseas if they can't get them through Ford anymore if they're NLA. |
