I just had my neutral start switch replaced because of 1) issues starting in Park and 2) a fluid leak behind it. The O-ring seal was also replaced.
I am disappointed to now find that I am having the same issue in starting the car, albeit even more frequently. I am thing perhaps the neutral start switch is not the problem, but don't have a clue as to what it might otherwise be. Also having another issue - may or may not be related. I have found that when driving up a hill my trans downshifts slowly and holds the lower gear for only 10s or so. Every other car I have driven holds the gear until the hill has been climbed! Any input is much appreciated. |

you may be right, it might pay to check battery leads ,starter , battery terminals, starter relay, sus out the auto changes after the starting problem is rectified.

when going up a hill i push my shifter to the left, meaning it will only cycle between 1st 2nd 3rd in your case pull it down 1 notch
fluid leak? was the fluid level checked after, if the fluid levels are slightly out on these they can do all sorts. the starting problem does sound like the park/neutral switch, does it start fine in neutral?

No problems starting in neutral....at least not yet.
I figure that looking at the connector and/or wiring is the next stop. I will be checking fluid level in the near future too. |

Selector adjusted incorrectly. As for gearshift, check the tps, if ok, execessive clearance in the auto teflon oil seals. Install some of that american stuff in the white bottle seems to work wonders on our troublsome cabs. P.s. don't remember what it's called. Won't be starter, relay, or wiring if ok in neutral.

Get someone to sit in the vehicle, u get underneith, undo the 13mm bolt that attaches the selector rod to the selector arm (White plastic thing) Put the gearbox into park underneith, 13mm bolt on side of gearbox, is in park when the tail shaft wont turn, and play with the adjustment sliding rod back to front until the vehicle starts in park. Can take a while the first few times. Good luck. (Some cars can be annoying to adjust correctly, however persist and the rewards will be yours)
