Default Road Rage - Driver took photo of my car

Hi Guys,

I was involved in a road rage incident yesterday where a Nissan GTR R32/Honda Prelude/Nissan Silvia (sorry couldn't tell what it was) came flying up my rear and started tailgating me and the guys started making rude gestures.

At the next set of lights, the guy got out and took a photo of my car and plates.

This happened In a 50km/h zone and it wasn't like I was going ridiculously slow I was doing about 48-50km/h.

Yes, I could have pulled over and let the other guy pass but it was impractical given that the street was parked full of cars given the lockdown

The question is can he do anything about it such as make up BS and tell cops that I was speeding or driving dangerously?

Thanks

Hi 2JZ and welcome to the forum.

Mate I wouldn't worry about it too much if you weren't doing anything silly. He can tell the police you were doing 240 kph in the 50 zone if he wants to, however they would be looking for corroborative evidence of that before any action could be taken.

An uncorroborated version of events given by one person carries very little weight, likewise a couple of pics of your car sitting stationary at a set of lights is not in itself, evidence of an offence.

If he's claiming you brake checked him, or did something else that could be construed as dangerous, then police may come and get a version from you. If these events occurred as you state in your post, then I'd suggest that your polite explanation of same will see the other driver's complaint being found to be unsubstantiated, and that'll be the end of the matter.

Cheers,

Russ.

I was actually trying to look for a spot to pull over but I there was absolutely nowhere to pull over as I've mentioned in the first post the street was parked full of cars.

Are you male or female?
And it is scary if it was night time.
Just call the police next time if you are that scared, but sounds like they wanted to get somewhere faster than you were driving?
Probably " tweakers " on a night out!

What car are you driving 2JZ a Supra?

They probably just liked the car and wanted a photo

Bad idea I would think.
Doesn't sound like they were stopping the OP for his autograph.

You don't know what sets these nutbags off - add physical confrontation and you may just get
a knife pulled on you - you can't tell.

Best to keep driving and let it pass.

Good idea these days to have a dashcam installed.
One that records both GPS speed (stamped on video) and location data.

I have two... Front and rear, and have the front one set to record audio as well.

Video evidence goes a long way if you need to go to the police in a road rage or accident dispute.

What do they expect the cops to do with that? Unless there are any corroborating witnesses it means nothing.

Video is a different story although some of these dash cams vids you see, I feel there is some creative editing

Hi Guys,
i had a road rage incident once and it was on a Saturday in the Sutherland Shire.
I was driving on Captain Cook Drive going toward Wanda Beach and it was three lanes, when i looked in the passenger,s mirror and noticed a Toyota 4WD flying down the left lane.

He didnt notice the parked cars and by the time he did he hit the brakes and tried to push me into the next lane. I could not swerve because there was a car next to me.

he got behind me then over to the right lane, got in front of me and kept hitting the brakes and when i tried to go past him he cut me off.
I wasn't in a hurry so just stayed behind him because i just didn't know what this guy had, a knife, a gun or what else?

In the end this nut bag turned off and it ended well with no fighting, and no body got hurt.

I was involved in a road rage 10 years ago take my advice if they hit you make sure you disable them in return,
I was stabbed 23 times lost half a lung, lost the tops of both ears and if it wasn’t for me crushing the mother btw our cars they would have gotten away.
