Default car-b-cue? lamborghini set on fire

"Instead of figuring a way to extract the fuel from the tank, taking it for a quick 50-mile spin, or just swapping it for another Gallardo, the display staff decided it'd be a good idea to just sit in the car and rev it to redline in neutral. Not so good for the car, but, in a pinch, excusable—perhaps.

The person behind the wheel soon grew tired of the limiter-popping, however, and decided to automate the process with a piece of wood lodged between the seat and the gas pedal.

It was just a matter of time, then, before the poor thing overheated and burst into flames."

Absolutely retarded. Really, jamming a piece of wood in there to keep the revs up? Wow..

What did Ferris Bueller use? A brick? Haven't these guys seen that movie? (For anyone that hasn't seen it, get it - well worth a watch).

I'm pretty sure I saw this car (in that state, with the melted back) on a truck in Melbourne not long ago... From memory it was "Whyte Hot Racing" or something like that. Gave me a giggle that's for sure.

EDIT: Found it. Car was driven by Jason and John White, White Hot Racing

How hard would it be to drain the fuel? Come to that, how long would it take to burn the fuel, even at high revs, just sitting there with no load?

What kind of morons do they have working there...?

Wouldn't take long to burn through a heap of fuel giving it a caining, can't even imagine it being the slighest bit economical with 10 hungry cylinders to feed.

Only about two weeks until I take a Gallardo for a spin in the US. Now I know not to rev it at the redline for extended periods while stopped
