Default What Coolant is everyone using?

Hey all, as the title says which coolant are you's using? Brands?

Ive been using the Tectaloy Anti-freeze/Boil and i have flushed it all out today, i did it 10 times to be safe with a radiator flush aswell, Ill get to the point im thinking of using the Tectaloy V Orange, its orange and is meant to be header tank safe and keep it clean, its recommended for Performance cars so i was going to give it a try.

Recommendations would be good.

Thanks,
Shaun

I have always used nulon ultra cool in my Au1 and any other car that I have ever owned, It has no glycol in it and from what i have heard it is heaps better for heat transfer/heat soak, I have never had a problem, my temp gauge never goes over N even in 40deg+ heat, i swear by the stuff, never had a head of anything so gotta be doing something right with this stuff.
just my slant on it

Castrol all the way! Never had any issues with any of their products. I believe tectaloy is very good though.

Tectaloy 60+ for me. Have used "Chameleon" coolant (supposed to change colour too) but it's crap, wouldn't touch it again (temp fluctuations).
The Tectaloy is priced well & carries the "Australian Standard" logo & seems to work well in my AU (BA radiator though). :voldar02:

Me too - it's supposed to be good for 4 years or 250,000km, so the extra expense is worth it - one 5lt bottle does your radiator. You mix it up as a 33% mix (1 part coolant, 2 parts water = 33% mix) and it's around $40 for the 5 litre bottle.

I wouldn't use the Castrol stuff.
I used to use it exclusively until I took the radiator cap off my Landcruiser and seen corrosion in the top of the radiator fins. The coolant was always changed at the correct intervals so was a real surprise to see this.

I now use Nulon long life and have had no more issues

I used the Motorcraft Ford coolant in the EL but that was only because the local dealer was selling it for $42.50 for a 5 litre bottle. I'm guessing someone made a boo boo when entering it into the computer as everywhere else I could find it it was at over $70 but come time to replace the AU coolant I think I'll be looking elseware. The Nulon seems to be getting good wraps so maybe I'll give that a try.

If you're changing it every 2 months, I wouldn't bother. Unless you go long-life and extend your coolant changes to every 4 months, instead, LOL.

I use Redline Waterwetter Supercoolant and Rust Inhibitor (Pink)

From their website Waterwetter Supercoolant and Rust Inhibitor (Pink) is a unique wetting agent for cooling systems (add to the radiator), which can double the capacity to remove heat by reducing temperatures as much as 20–30°C. An absolute must for reducing the strain of running vehicle air-conditioning on hot days. Suitable for both petrol or diesel vehicles and trucks. Especially recommended for race engines! It also provides year round protection to reduce rust, corrosion and electrolysis—passing the most severe Simulated Service Corrosion test developed for automotive coolants determined by the ASTM committee. It also reduces cavitation and air pockets; cleans and lubricates water pump seals; prevents foaming; complexes with hard water to reduce scale. Waterwetter provides much better heat transfer properties than glycol-based antifreeze.

No laughing mate, and if they laugh they dont know what they are talking about!!
The holden stuff is very good, aswell as other products, especially for the price.
The ford stuff is good too, though expensive, but ive had it in my motor for 3 years now, and is still very green and still works well, cant complain with that.
