This one's been done to death on the old forums, but I thought I'd do it again because I'm pretty damn proud of myself at the moment :
Went for a long **** drive in the old lady's EL Ghia, down to Geelong and through GOR up to Port Campbell then back to Melb through Colac. Got about 610 to the tank, which is still going lol. That's regular unleaded from a Liberty servo, with about 4 people in the car most of the time. It's got a Tickford 4.0L and 3.45:1 LSD which makes the tacho needle sit just shy of 2000RPM at 100km/h. After having nothing but bad experiences with Falcon's on petrol I reckon that's pretty decent ;) My EA on gas does 290 to the tank, which is pretty shitty. My old EA did more like 350 on the same amount of gas, only difference in the two being the gearbox. What do you all get?? Sundeep |

600-700km's is pretty common for a good condition I6 with freeway driving.
its the city driving that kills us ;) mine changes all the time, a full tank of LPG will usually last about 400-500km's depending on driving etc, no idea on petrol but i imagine its crap with the new cam.

i was only getting around 400km to a tank usually... but for some reason this tank i'm going to get about 460-470km its up to 440 now with a little bit of juice left. the weird thing is my cars running like a dog, burning oil, idling fairly crappy, running a wade 1004 112 instead of the 114, and i've been driving it fairly hard too. i've also advanced the timing slightly, cleaned the isc and throttle body with carby cleaner, and changed the fuel filter which might of helped it

My car seems to be great on the highway, i could probably get about 500ish to a tank (it's hard to know for sure as i rarely do highway driving for an entire tank of fuel).
Around town, if i give it some stick, she can easily go as low as about 250! If i floor my car from a standing start, i can make the trip comp read 99L/100km for a few seconds! lol |

lol 99L/100km thats mad! The worst economy i've gotten is around 300ish.. which is basically flooring it everywhere i go and mainly suburban street driving to get that kind of economy.

On the trip to the summernats in my fathers EF XR6 Auto we filled up after 537 kays and put in 48L to top it up again... works out to be 11.2L/100km. Not bad at all considering there was four in the car and we were travelling along the hume at 120kays which is about 2400-2500rpm

Thats one good thing about living in the sticks is the good fuel consumption. I could tow a stock crate behind the falcon loaded with 4 cows and still get a better fuel consumption figure (and kill my clutch at the same time) than some of you urbanites lol. Sunny I should have given you a call because i ended up not so busy yesterday. You could have gone from Port Campbel through to cobden and then to colac(which is a highway compared to the P.C to colac way if you went through simpson)
Did you see mr plod in the 4wd on your travels by any chance lol |

K my two cents' worth.
Around the 350km mark on LPG on city runs, up to 500km on longer trips. Don't know on petrol cos we use petrol as a backup, just in case we (read that as I) flog the ford and it craps out of gas at 300km. It does approximately the same k's as my petrol rolla (which is in dire need of a new carby), except on longer runs the rolla can go as high as 600km's. But she doesn't get to do that anymore really, she's my round town baby. I'm always pushing her to the limit. I unfortunately have a friggin' HUGE clock where a tacho should be (what a weirdass design!) so I have no idea what revs I do, I just listen to the engine. And guess which one's cheaper to run??? :1syellow1

well guys i cant complain about the brock it keeps getting better on fuel all the time. i get 550 to 600 round town and get it down to 8.7L/100 out on the open road(not taking it too easy either- 2 in the car resting on 140k's boot loaded to the hilt and usually back seat full too).
was gonna give it a tune but its running fine and with figures like that i dont wanna touch it just yet. |

I get 565km to 53 normal petrol but get a lot more if i use 95% petrol ( about 100km and 148 more for the 98% stuff) works out at 9.4L/100km.. air/fuel reader sits nicely on 15.0 a/f all the way

The best Ive done is 420ish to heathcote and back including racing and some racing and nice overtaking on the way home. The worst has been about 200km on a busy weekend giving it a good thrashing.

George - That's my old car in my avatar, SPRINTEA own's it now. It looks a bit different now so I don't think you saw it lol. My new car's not worthy of a spot in my avatar atm lol
Karl - We did go through Cobden and that, through the forest and shit. You live way out in the sticks man, there's like no lights anywhere at night. When we got down to Colac the front end was absolutely plastered with bugs and bug guts, all aerodynamically styled around the front end lol. Sundeep |
