Default Coolant leak help with pics!

Hi all,

Got a small water leak that happens from time to time which is weird cause it doesnt happen all the time.

Source seems to be the area around the thermostat housing. Pics of the leak source.

The top hose is not suspect as its dry when the leak is there. I am suspecting its that black pipe. Can this pipe be replaced or do I need to change the whole housing area? Is there any other way I can go about fixing this?

thanks in advance

there is a o ring where that pipe goes into the housing, just un bolt it , give it a wiggle or 3 and it should come out

You're not the only one mate.

Last time I did engine work, the mate who was helping me smeared some high temp sealant on the fitting when it got put back together.
Prior to that it would on rare occasions leave a little telltale white mark on the A/C compressor.

It's a heater flow pipe & thus it may leak if & when the heater tap is turned on & off. That's what I figured anyhow.

With sealant mine hasn't leaked in a year.

I put a thicker o ring on mine combined with high temps sealant. Hasn't leaked since.
