argument in the smurf household this morning, Nanna smurf not happy, Poppa smurf placed the toilet roll on the holder the wrong way.
silly me, put the tab to the wall side and not to the "outside" as "she" would like it. what is your preference, do you roll your loo paper outwards, away from the wall or downwards following the wall. I need guidance fellow members as these life affirming decisions arise everyday and for a nonce like me they are land mines.

Never actually worried about it before. It goes on whatever way it gets put on. I didn’t think it made any difference.

Away from the wall (if that means the bit that's left hanging is on the outside of the roll)...
Funny how these little things can matter..... Anyone else get the agro when 2ply is cross threaded??... Funny how it's perfectly obvious to me after 1 second, yet the in laws and the Mrs can go through a whole roll and not get why the perforations are slowly getting more and more out of alignment...

I agree with away from the wall but I change the roll at my place.
You DO realise that Nana Smurf is NEVER going to forget? |

But in answer to the OP's question, the correct etiquette is to hang the paper away from the wall. That's the way it's done in all quality hotels etc. |

This has to be the biggest non issue ever, what's next the strategic placement of specific fridge magnets?? Still if this is the worst your missus complains about I think you've got things pretty sweet in the smurf household

Away from the wall.
The missus claims she just puts it on which ever way it happens to be. But somehow it ends up the wrong way 90% of the time. Didn't expect it to be so one sided for something that should be about 50/50 |

ah! yes the old "finger through the paper trick!"....... very sorry to say been there, done that. happens more often when Mr's Smurf skimps on shopping days and buys 142 rolls in a plastic wrap which was "on special". large digits such as mine require man thickness paper......4 ply minimum.....you know the one's that scares the loo as it gets a hernia trying to flush it all away.

I'm just happy when the toilet paper is there. S**ts rough when you gotta do a run to find some if someone hasn't replaced it.
