Data Recovery

I accidentally deleted my sisters photos from when she went to Thailand earlier this year, does anyone know of any good programs to use so that i can get them back =/ or she'll kill me.

They were deleted a little over 2 months ago, and i have since formatted. Is there any chance of digging them out of my hard drive somewhere, or am i going to get hounded for the rest of my life?

Im afraid you'll have to see a data recall specialist and its not exactly cheap..

Always back up photos to CD when you get them printed or put on your hard drive.

Also do that before you wipe the digital card too.

Depends on the format level, I would suggest buying your sister another holiday rather spending money on data recovery

Well i did back most of the stuff up onto CD, but it seems that I've missed those particular photos.

Maybe a kiss and a cuddle, or maybe she can take it as lesson learned for putting things onto my hard drive instead of the family one Thanks for the replies

The best prog' available is 'Easy Recovery Pro'. Use in the Comp' repair biz to do data recovery. Usually charge minimum of $ 400. But there are free one's on the net. Data never actually gets deleted from your HD, all that happens is the OS deletes any reference/tag to it but it still exists like it was there before deletion.

yep, lots of software available (some free, or "free") that will recover dleted files from your hard drive. Just try not to do anything else on the computer until you recover the data as it can still be overwritten in the mean time.

yes I did try this one day as I lost some pics in a similar fashion. I recovered them but they were not in very good quality. would this have been because of the type of program or is this normal. perhaps some one could advise as to a good data recovery program on the net.

good point, maybe that was the reason for poor quality recovery that I got.

Your data is still there, assuming you havent been copying gigs of data around the place since. Any of the programs mentioned will hopefully work for you. If you did a Quick format, your in good shape ... if on the other hand you did a Full format .. things are gunna look a bit more grim.

Other than that, depending on how badly fragmented your HDD was, will have an impact on how much you are able to recover as well.
