its a shame that there are none abvailable for XR series yet. I wonder why there are so many available, from different companies, only for non XR vehicles?

You are absolutely spot on mate. I have questioned the same thing for ages. & A BA/BF/FG XR8-type bonnet bulge steel bonnet is the only exterior modification I would ever make to my MINT AUII XR (apart from aftermarket alloy wheels). Cheers

why are people asking why there aren't xr bonnets with the bulge?
it'd look ridiculous. with that slopey nose and the silly crease, it'd look completely out of place to have a bulge in it. also am i remembering correctly that at one stage (probably like 6 years ago) that there was some kind of shortage on AUII/III/fairmont bonnets?

With the fibreglass humps, the crease that runs down the middle of the bonnet can sometimes be visible which doesn't look great. Personally i think the xr bonnets have enough character when standard

Thread is a heads up for those wanting a AU bonnet with a hump made from steel, its not a discussion whether it looks good or not.
Must be a fair demand for them to start pressing these for a car that stopped production 10 years ago.

I said no mods on my new ute. Guess I'll have to break it once a low series bonnet is available.
Maybe we should email them and ask when the XR bonnets are coming?

Is it not true that all AU XRs use the AU1 bonnet?

haha. It will also provide the needed space I need to reroute the intercooler for better boost throttle response too.

Does it give you more under bonnet clearance? Would a 9.500" deck Windsor with a Box R clear? Hmmm very interesting, my current bonnet has some rust, this could be a perfect replacement.

I'm thinking the same, if it will clear a edelbrock victor with elbow. With the edelbrock elbow i have i'll have to cut a hole but with a better style elbow and this bonnet it might be all good. It is about time they did a high series bonnet and in steel, the xr boys have had it to good for to long with fibre glass and carbon lol.

I just upgraded from my fiberglass bulged bonnet (don't recommend doing, never worked out) to this steel bulged bonnet and its perfect. I just got it back a few days ago, here it is on the car
cheers. |

Looks tasty. From the photo, it looks like you've retained the factory washer jet location? Does the factory bonnet liner also fit?
