Looking for a good builder of custom headers.
Any one with previous headers they have had built and are really happy with the work and the end results they achived please let me know who it was that built them and where they are located, and if possible a rough price they charged you. ( photos too would be really good but that might be pushing it a bit ) Looking for a set of headers that work and not a set that are there only for there looks. Thanks. |

I found that you can get anyone to do something that looks good, and they say it will work and give you more power, but! They wont prove it. They do this for 500 or 700 for simple extractors, but for a real nice custom mandrel bent tuned lenth exhaust system built for your engine in stainless steel you are up for more like $3000

I second the vote for Barney
He made a set of 2" primary all equal length extractors to fit my 460 into my ZC Fairlane. It picked up another 500 rpm compared to the tri y's I had in there originally.

Barney is booked out for the next 4 weeks. My cars booked in for the 19th July for custom extractors. My cars no 4 :( At this point in time he's doing them between other exhaust work jobs (extractor back systems). From what I witnessed he's taking 1 to 1.5 weeks to complete a set which for me is a suitable time frame.
nb..He did tell me there is a pretty good chance I'll be in there 1 week early

Yes Brenx I spoke to Barney and he said it wouldnt be a problem most likely I would have to wait a couple of weeks but should be done by the end of July, the thing is I wish to see what some of his work is like and some feedback from customers not just what he says. If im going to trust him with my car and believe that what I ask for is going to be done I need to know what he is like.

Mine will be around $1000 mark. I just having a set of pipes built to the spec of the pipes that produced the most power on the dyno @ Pavtek. Mine will have 4-1's with 1 7/8" primaries with a 3.5" collector. I'm undecided on whether I want them HPC or Jethot coated as yet. Can't jusify spending money on something you can't sell later on due to the nature of the custom work.

just looking for some positive comments and some pics of headers that others have had done as I have been burnt before and not wishing to have to have them redone if they dont work. These pipes werent the best looking and have a few tight bends in them.

They need a receptionist. [edit]Those pipes look good. From what I've seen of Barney's work they should be equal or if not better than what you've pictured. I feel your pain in selecting a builder. I chose Barney due to the quality of the work I've seen him put out. The only reason I wouldn't have used him for mine would have been if the completion time was crappy.

I reckon number 5 cylinder pipe looks daggy, it's out of shape.
Would look much better HPC coated as well. |
