Blocks are legal in Qld according to the RTA's latest vehicle modifications PDF (downloadable from the RTA's website). So long as they're aluminium or metal and don't decrease the vehicles original ride height between the bump stop and corresponding metal stop by more than a third.

And when they shatter and your car ends up wrapped up around a tree or power pole WHO you going to blame.
Really some of you must be so naive its not funny...lowering blocks generally are made out of aluminium...now think about this steel suspension...alloy blocks... whats going to destroy itself first. Especially if you are prone to giving your car a hard time. I suggest you all who think blocks are OK check your insurance!!!!!! Yes I MAY be wrong about all of OZ not allowing them....I've seen what happens when they let go....its not pretty!!!!!!!

Well, resetting leaf springs in Qld is illegal. You have to buy them already set from a custom shop. But hey, who's going to know the difference???

I would suggest that if you have seen one fail that it was not fitted correctly in the first place or was an inferior block or was not checked, like any suspension part should be in service. |

EXTRUDED aluminium is what most blocks are made from. Very tough.. |

You will get heaps of sidewars movement from the diff.
Just get the springs done properly. Safer and looks better.

my old wagon failed a rwc because of the lowering blocks and a couple of other really minor things... i think they were strugling to pick issues with the car to fail it....removed them, fixed the other tiny things, got it passed then reinstalled the blocks and all was sweet....
never had an issue with them, and will be using them again in my eb daily driver when i get it |

We wanna do it to a transit van my mate bought, there is no way the car will be pushed, it barely has enough guts to move it with one person in it, let along 5. We'll look into it some more

I've had them on cars in the past in Vic & have never been defected. In fact had a car pass a roadworthy with them fitted.
Though I wonder how my old XM falcon I had in the early 70's would go now days with lengthened shackels to lift the body high enough to clear widened wheels & tyres on the rear. I reckon the 1st police that saw it would defect the car but I drove around for many years without a problem from police then. I would seriously get the rear springs properly lowered by a suspension supplier if I was going to lower a car with cart springs on it now. |
