There is a picture of a Victory Gold XR8 Sprint however not sure if there is any write up as the picture was a last minute inclusion as when the book went into print it was only being released.

Michele and Doug who live in Melbourne are happy to sign the book if anyone is interested. I think they may have a book launch in August.

Great book. I had a flick through it - there's a few errors in the captions, but it doesn't detract from what is otherwise a fantastic book and a must have.

Read this the other day about Wayne Draper who worked at Ford Australia in the design department and went on to build the Phase 6 Xe Falcons.http://www.streetmachine.com.au/feat...o-phase-autos/

For anyone remotely interested in the car industry, and not just Ford, this is a must read. Amongst other things, it really illustrates the ins and outs of the industry and the whole decision making progress that brings products to market. Members of the public and this forum, quite rightly, often question the actions and motives Ford make, but often the decisions have extensive consideration.
Whilst this book is a fascinating read, it is also desperately depressing. The aggressive expansions of facilities and expertise, the desire to become number one that lead to an air of confidence in the 1980's to massive job cuts, plant closures, head office sabotage and to the final nail in the coffin in the recent years makes hard reading. I suppose what makes the book great is all the stories of the lesser know employees, from the guy sweeping the floors to the managing directors. The war years were also fascinating, the breadth of Fords manufacturing contributions extensive. On numerous occasions over the years, the aussie engineers were often told by their American colleges that certain things such as plastic fuel tanks and stamping methods couldn't be done a certain way, only to completely proven wrong. One of the most interesting things documented in the book centres around the poor governmental decisions stemming from the mod 80's that culminated in the recession of the early 90's. Whilst we mostly associate the end of the Australian car industry with recent happenings, the decisions of the late 80's and early 90's signalled the beginning of the end. And its taken 20 something years and a 1000 cuts to take effect. As mentioned above, there are a few errors here and there, particularly with photo captions, but this is book not only illustrates Fords history over the decades but also the development and progression of Australia as a society.

Copies are getting thin on the ground I'm reliably informed. Bookdepository no longer has stock, Fishpond don't even list it anymore and the rest are saying at least 2-3 weeks.
I think the publisher underestimated the demand
