Default Simple Question... Complicated Answer

Lo all,

I was just wondering, if the Territory is based on the Falcon, why is there no Territory Ute?

Also, why is there no V8 Territory?

I bet a Boss 335 4x4 Territory Ute would pinch a few sales from the Japs. I for one would buy one tomorrow if it became available.

Thoughts?

Ummmm,

No Territory ute as Ranger is seen in that spot?

No V8 Territory as Territory aimed more at a demographic that already complains of the fuel use of the 6. Initial sales of V8 would be good, then probably trail off into insignificance, like BA-F RTV V8, and Turbo Territory.

If you like the idea of a Territory Boss 335 ute (it's wild!) nearest I can offer in the DNA chain is a BA-F V8 RTV. Reviews from journo's and owners suggested the whole concept did indeed tempt some away from Jap utes...

Ford's current advertising offers them having any car you want. I'll have a V8 manual rear wheel drive wagon, thanks....................................crickets chirp..........................

They are a lowest common denominator manufacturer of vehicles these days.

Hang on a minute, lowest common denominator? Extreme much?

Just so you know, Ford are currently the ONLY car company in the world to make a profit, to pay off debt and to not have massive amounts of stock sitting in storage yards ageing, depreciating and rusting.
Maybe they got to be in the position they're in simply for the fact that they ignored the "nuthin' fancy's" of this world who would like them to spend hundreds of millions developing a car that no one would want to buy. No offence, but if anyone wanted a perfect example of what not to do in business, it's be paying heed to a dumb assertion of making a niche vehicle that very few people would want to buy. If you want such a vehicle, go to Holden. Just a question, have you ever purchased a new car from Ford? Are you one of those people that say "I'd buy one" but never put money down? I doubt Ford would miss your lack of patronage by not building a car that you'd only be interested in after it has been owned by a few people and becomes affordable. Lowest common denominator? Grow up.

I did hear an odd story that the V8 physically would not fit into the Territory engine bay.

Yep, thats just a story.

The Boss does in fact fit albeit with a Falcon K frame assy.

BPT in Wangara are currently making/designing a "kit" form for Territory owners who are wanting a V8, like me, for the minority people who want to be different.

I do believe that CAPA stuck a boss 290 in one a while back now. Also Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage (site sponsor i do believe) made one too so its definately possible. And like was said above there Ford Rangers and Falcon utes to cover the demographic of a powerful ute around.

There is nothing in the Ford current line up that I want to buy. I like the flexibility of a wagon (my EL Fairmont will regularly get 900km+ out of a tank of fuel on a trip) but I don't want a terror. The reason I still drive the EL is because Ford don't offer a specification in a wagon that I want. The closest I could go to upgrading is an AU3.

I accept that I want an unusual combination that is never going to be a volume seller. I'll leave my comment to the facts and my opinion and I'll leave any sort of personal commentary out of the question. Perhaps I could ask the same of you?

Fte T3 TL50, Manual V8 wagon, V8 Territory. I'm seeing a pattern here, desired by the few, afforded by less, bought by even fewer.

Why not make one? I mean think about it? Buy one, dump a GT 290, probably cost about the same. If your willing & can afford to put down your hard earned for a factory one, the surely building one isnt out if reach. And only two or three others. So if you ever wanted to sell it, it would bring sone decent coin. Or not, & just enjoy it's rarity. If you can't buy it, BUILD IT!

Why dont FPV build a V8 Terri then, they built the ever popular F6X that everyone said would be brilliant....

Actually YES.

Driven by the DP as his "work car".

But unfortunately they were yet another "good in theory" exercise like TL50, Force, XUV, Coupe4, SV6000, Jackaroo etc.

I'll be the first to admit holden have gone into production with some shockers, Crewman, and failed to produce some awesome designs like the Torana concept, however, i give them full points for going outside the square and capturing the imagination of another generation of customers.

I say stuff the V8 Terri/Ute idea personally, but just maybe if us Ford fans stopped living in 1971 and demanded a 'new' supercar, Ford might get off their xxxx and provide those fortunate enough with a worthy HO, or their own Coupe!
Instead of us whinging about Holden making it real for a handful of their loyal fans.

Territory Ute idea came from the existence of the high riding RTV a few years ago.
If Ford used the Territory as a basis for the Ute instead of the sedan, they could have
more of a legitimate F100 styled pick up with higher ground clearance, AWd and diesel to boot...
The existing half chassis back of the ute wouldn't be that hard to adapt to a truncated Territory cab....

If Territory and Ute were common to each other, it would allow Ford more freedom with Falcon sedan.
I'm easy with either proposition, sedan based Ute is still OK and an RTV isn't hard to develop.

your asking for thoughts . how does a territory rolling over between 6 and 10 times at the end of a straight sound ?

that blue concept looks freakin sweet!!! i actually like it, would be better in black though :P if it was a real 4wd with low range and all those sorts of goodies then that would be a sick car, stick the typhoon engine in it and it would have torque to boot, there would be no reason for anyone to ever buy a jeep wrangler ever again haha and i like that idea

LOL I never said it would make a good track attack vehicle. There are heaps of Jap and US 4x4s you can spec with a V8, why should the Territory be any different, especially as the car it is based on has a V8 option.

Personally, I like the idea of a MustangFalconTerritory.

"Hello, I'd like to buy a big Ford please."

"Certainly sir, would you like a coupe, sedan, ute, wagon or big wagon? Comfort, lifted or sports suspension? 2WD or 4WD? Small turbo 4 pot, big six, big turbo six, or really big supercharged V8?"

Platform sharing has so many possibilities, and could be relatively cheap, if done right. Admittedly, you could build some abominations, but there are some cool options there too. Typhoon Mustang, Supercharged V8 4x4 Territory, EcoBoost Falcon Wagon (Fleet), lifted 4x4 Falcon RTV Ute, the list goes on. With so many combinations, you could have whatever you wanted, at a reasonable price, with a warranty.
