Default Monaro Going

Found this on Just Commodores. Very interesting. So the big monaro is going. Pity. I always liked the monaro. New and old. My favourite was the HK Monaro. My uncle had an LE Monaro. Great cars. Lots of history. Will be a shame to see it go.

Anyway heres the link http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...8572#post88572

Yeah will be sad to see it go. The current model looks really hot in real life compared to the pics.

Hmm after following that thread i found out they were exported to the Middle east as SS lumina coupes. Never knew that i thought they were only in UK and the US.

Damn that's a shame.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the VE Commodore? So far there will be no VE wagon, now no Monaro.
Wonder what is so different that the Monaro & wagon's are excluded?

Anyone see the Monaro/Pontiac in Herbie: Fully Loaded

Yep a nice shape. Sad to see it go. Australia's car makers have a problem with selling domestic 2 door cars in large volumes. Ex the Valiant Charger the rest were avarage sellers.

I don't think Holden was getting the US sales that they had originally hoped for. Anyway, they never denied that the Monaro was only a limited production run.

I was under the impression that the next generation Monaro, as well as Statesman and Ute will be made by GM US and imported into Australia, and the rest of the market will be covered with domestic builds...this is what Hanneberger and John Howard were proposing with the FTA with the US

I think there is a reference there to all wheel drive vehicles being higher on the agenda for the VE range and post VE. It can only be assumed that the Territory has severely changed Holdens point of view of consumer wants, and they know they simply must have a competitor. But their limited production space means something has to go.......and Monaro is it by the looks of it

A bit dissapointing. Although I liked the older ones better. I hope this doesn't encourage Ford to drop the GT.

this may prove how smart Ford were a few years ago when a bit of pressure was put on them after the Hilliers did their AU. it was indeed a very limited market.
i wonder how resale value will go for manaro in a few years time.

Hmmm.

I hope this doesn't take the pressure off Ford. No competition means sub-standard vehicles. That or no vehicles at all...

I always thought it was a beaut : looking car it's just a shame Holden didn't make it into the car it should have been rather than a hairdressers car. :eclipsee_

I just looked further down the threads and found one the same as this, maybe the moderaters could reposition this post into Bucknakeds thread

The Pontiac GTO offers a bonnet scoop delete option when you order. Im not sure about the Monaro.

I'd order it with and keep the bonnet.

Should keep the resale value high for current owners!

Great looking car especially before the nostrils, will be sought after for years to come methinks
