Default Barn Find Torana GTR

Don't think it will hit 6 figures, but interesting to see what it goes for.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it did reach 6 figures. There’s lots of CUBs out there

& very interesting as for a long time GTR pricing tended to track GS Fairmont pricing...

Not a genuine GTR steering wheel!

Knock a few grand off for the SAAS wheel!

That is really cool!

It’s hard to believe it just got forgotten about, but I guess at the time they were just a car, not a collectors piece like today. It will go for good money I’m sure.

The new owner can Put a ctek battery charger on it, jack it up with a repco trolley jack for some new tyres and should be good to go!

They knew exactly what they had.!!!
Check out some of the other vehicles they've kept over the Years..

The Local Gossip is that they had a Disagreement with FoMoCo & handed the Franchise back..

I think the more interesting part is how any car on any dealer lot could end up like this. Seems very strange to me. Wonder what it will go for.

"Auctioneers Burns & Co report the vehicle has matching numbers, and believe the 86,000km shown on the odometer is the original mileage."

Must be true if Burns and Co say so.

I would think of more interest to Fordies is the chance to still pick up a new condition "2016 Falcon FGX XR6 ute with a mere 98km on the clock" 4 years on.

Still regret selling mine. Didn't really like how the steering wheel wasn't directly in front of the drivers seat though.. off center to the left

I think you’ll find it’s 86k miles, has the dual speedo like most metrinch change over cars had.

What was the story with that. Does anyone know why it’s off center? Was bloody annoying.

I know someone who has 3 1968 Monaro’s. sitting untouched or started for around 20 years. He can’t be bothered playing with them but will not sell them.

I think there are lots of these types of cars sitting around. It will probably take the death or serious illness of a family member before there even considered of being moved on.

Because the Torana started life as an underpowered 4 cyl Vauxhall Viva, blame the Poms strange engineering habits.
I had a LH SLR for 12 months from new. The off set, off centre steering wheel, combined with a foot operated parking brake, along with numerous other annoyances, made it the worst car I have ever owned.

Just the way they designed the Torana, I had two of them and you got use to the off centre steering.

I think its a beaut and I hope the new owner recommissions it and drives it like it should be.

For me the little quirks of these old cars, like an off center steering wheel make them all the more appealing. Hell my little Escort has the indicators on the left and after 25 years I still turn the wipers on when entering a corner. It makes me smile every time...

Theres still plenty of cars in hiding no doubt. Just amongst my circle of friends alot of us parked them up when life, mortgages and families started to take priority.
I few of us are on top of that now and are enjoying them again but I know of a HJ LS Monaro in particular thats has almost as much dust on it as that Torana.

GTRs like this were worth around $3500 for many years in the 80s
I've owned a couple of them over the years

What's the bet it sells for a similar price to a good, proper XU1. Somehow all that genuine dust adds stupid prices to these cars. It's only a GTR ffs.
