Default My Fiesta needs a new home!

It has come time to part with my beloved Zetec.

Its going for what I think is a reasonable price given the condition, age and current market conditions.

In the interest of other owners, I will post final sale price.

Nothing for about a year or so.

But I really want a Tornado Ute but with the way fuel prices are, that might not be a good idea for a daily drive....

Dont know if theres a huge market for Zetec fiestas at the moment. LX yeah but not 100% on the more pricey zetec when most people looking for a small car are looking for something cheap and simple. Just my 2 bobs.

Well interesting you should say that as Ford are doing manual LX 3 door with air for $17,990 drive away. So that makes it $15,990 + $2,000 for on road costs. And that has no ABS. Although I suspect most dealers will sell them for less than this.

Interesting market trends at the moment...althought at the moment there is only 1 other used Fiesta for sale in the Canberra market and it is an LX 5 door with air and manual for 19,990 at a Ford dealership. I have not seen anything else.

Been talking to a few other people out there and it seems as if the **** end has fallen out of the used car market. Its an interesting situation.

On the one hand we are all uncertain of the fuel costs so this is making it difficult moving larger vehicles. Been speaking to a few guys and no one has any interest in anything with a V8 in it unless it is dirt cheap.

But at the same time, this should trigger small car sales. It sort of has. A mate of mine is trying to sell a mid 90s lancer and is asking a better than decent price for it. So it seems that cheaper, older small cars are getting popular, probably all being used as 2nd cars and city hacks as larger cars become expensive.

Just a few of my thoughts about what I am hearing out there....

A lot of people still have no idea what a Fiesta is. Also, depends what price bracket that BMW was in. I am competing with Lancers, Pulsars and Rollas that are about the same price.

Obviously the Fez is a much better car.

Still playin the game!

I am going overseas so it needs to go, otherwise I would keep it. I love this car and pretty much the only other thing I would want at the moment would be a Fiesta ST. Will have to take one for a spin when I am in the UK.

I have had to drop the price. It is now $16,000 as I am not getting any interest at the old price. Its almost a steal and still nothing. Maybe I need to throw in a set of steak knives.

I am very suprised as they are just such a fast selling car here.

I assume you're advertising in all the right places, like carsales.com.au, tradingpost.com.au, etc... so I am not sure why you have no interest so far!

Welcome to the start of week 3. I have been taking to people around the place about how the car market is going. I spoke to a random Ford sales person at the local dealer and they tell me the Fez is getting good resale value and that they dont have any in stock as they have been selling them like hot cakes. No new Fez's till October at the moment.

A guy I know has been in the car industry for years and does finance work now. Apparently there has been a noticable slow down in car sales over the last 2 weeks. And a lot of people are looking to car dealers for 2nd hand cars rather than going thru private sales. Suspect trade-ins of larger, harder to sell cars.

But just relaying info...I think there is uncertainty in the market place generally as there is potential for prices to rise in all areas due to current petrol pricing. And that will lead to tighter budgets and a need to strech the dollar further.

Sorry for long posts, but theres a lot to be said lol.

Its the end of week 4 and nothing has happened.

I did get a call from someone and after asking if I could drop the price, they then said it was out of their price range. Seriously do people even use their brains?

I suppose I just have to keep fighting the good fight...no more posts till the thing is sold or withdrawn from market!

Car is now sold after 6 weeks. Yes probably not a long time in the grand scheme of things but a long time for me.

Sold on Ebay for $15,750. Not exactly top dollar but U take what U can get.

Market is still dead, buyer came from Darwin to ACT for the car, apparently there is a mass shortage of small cars up there but a load of 4WD.

Ebay fees were something like $50. Its ok for the advertising you get.

Well, the Fez only went cause of the UK experience. They are great little cars.

Now, is anyone interested in buying an ST in about 12months time??? I can ship 2 over next year.

Teki, hopefully the market will improve over the next 12 months and the Fez will realise better resale. In saying that, if U can get $15,000 for a 2 year old Fez, you are doing well.

Interestingly, Sept has been a bumper month for new car sales. Maybe thats where all the buyers were????

from what i read in the daily rag, small car sales have well and truly overtaken the traditional leaders (commodore and falcon)

top seller was the corolla, and total small car sales increased by 38%

times are changing, and we small car owners are leading the revolution :P
