Default Check out this EA Ute........

Last week I was just headin out from my place and saw this dog ugly thing. Just thought I would share the pics with you all. It's a shame we all couldnt close our eyes to the EA model, a permanant blot on Fords History...

P.S. Sorry for the cruddy pics, I took em with my Phone.

I thinks its OK. It would be pretty cool with a respray in Blueprint and some of the newer style (EF/EL) wagon tailights and a general tidy up.

Anything to get it away from an EA look would be great. Blueprint here on the Gold Coast is so over done that its boaring now. Nearly every second xr seems to be blueprint. It's a great colour, had one till a month ago (Blueprint XR), but too manny around now. I would do it in the current Yellow, throw some black stripes on it (not BA ones)....Could be ok then.

There is nothing wrong with a good condition EA. Don't be so pretentious. Obviously there were some duds with the EAs, as there are with any model.

That ute is just embarrassing! It would look at home in a wreckers.

I think you are all a bit hard.

It looks to me like a work in progress and on a limited budget these things can take time.

At least it is different, I would like to see it when it is finished.

Yes you're right, I didn't look at it in that way.

There is a burgandy EA ute with EL exterior that looks really nicely done.

There was a nice one in Greystanes a few years ago, made from a wagon. It was dark blue with the Ford logo pressed into the tailgate. Looke good too.

Permanent blot on Ford history...who the hell do you think you are xagt coupe.

The EA was the first Falcon to drag the Falcon's engineering out of the 60's and thus the first one to really gain my respect.

Sure this EA ute looks a bit dodgy with stock povo pack wheelcovers, different colour panels and misaligned gaps everywhere but give the guy a break. He's doing something individual and all works-in-progress have these stages. It'd catch my eye quicker than yet another GT :the_finge

This was once just another thrashed EA too;

We cant all afford the best.

And a spray job and a decent set of wheels will get it looking good again.

I stand by what I said earlier, the EA was a s@^t box!! Ask any mechanic who ever has the distinct displeasure to eva work on them (Myself included) The cfi system was a joke, the car was so poorly constructed, the engine wasnt much betta than the 4.1litre it replaced. The car was a BLOT on FORD's history, or if you think blot is too harsh, then it was a LEMON!!!!

Thats MY opinion, dont like it? st!ff s@^t, get ova it.

Well, we all know the EB was the 'fix' for the EA, didnt look much betta, but fixed a fair amount of the ea issues....While they do look betta done up, they are still an ea, an I say you cant polish a turd.

What's wrong with the EA look? Sure the early EAs had some serious quality issues but right from a young age, I've found the EA to be a great looking car. They have aged very well, so they still look good. Not all EAs were lemons. It's just like the GenIII Commodores. A lot of them are oil burning piston rattling dogs, but there are still plenty of good ones. The fact Ford kept the same basic exterior design with very minor cosmetic changes from the 88' EA right through till the ED was replaced in 94' says a lot about the timeless looks of the EA Falcon.

But I agree that ute is ugly.

ps. Actually, my Dad had an XA GT coupe when he was young and it suffered a lot of electrical problems, so does that make the XA GT a lemon? I think not. Just you get the odd bad one.

the second pic of the white EA ute with the grey door i thought it was a subaru brumby (now proton jumbuck) at first glimpse..

i agree they should have used the tray section instead of that XD one <-that was the blot on ford history

sorry but i thought the EA/EB wasnt too bad a few issues THEY GIVE MY AUIII a run for me money both stock (except a thermo in the EA) and both cars swap drivers second time around soooo i dont think those issues are really that bad :

What eva your smokin, I think you need another toke......

I said they were displeasurable to work on, not difficult. But then again, have you ever changed the hall effect device inside the dizzy in one of these fitted with the Multipoint EFI system while they are still stinking hot?

I worked as an EFI technician at the time, (Early through to late 90's) and we used to get 2 or 3 EA's every day on average. The only other one type of car we had come in with some regularity were the 80's 300zx Nissans needing their injectors serviced, and anyone who has done this before knows thats a big job, top of manifold off, fuel rails etc etc, all injector plugs replaced with new ones......When we werent stuck on EA's, we had Audis, BMW's, late American Stuff like Trans-Ams and Camaros etc etc......

There's a feature on this in the current Street Machine Fords magazine. Now adorned with a bonnet mural :

That EB "GT" ute is hot. The one tonner is quite nice even if I don't like the current bonnet mural. As for that twin cab : I like the paint and rims but the tub just looks weird.
