Default Can I get away with this?

Hi,

Just a quick question regarding insurance.

Im 24 and planning on getting a performance car (XR6T). I live in Sydney, and my dad lives in coffs harbour. The cheapest quote I can get it 2.5k. If I put in his postcode up at coffs its only 1.5k. Thats a grand cheaper!

Could I get away with saying I live with my dad and "periodically" visit Sydney and get away with it? Does anyone do this to save money and does anyone know of people getting busted for this?

Cheers,
Rob

And what happens when your insurance company cross references the address you give them, with the one on your licence and your postal address?

Doesn't mean kaka. He could have a PO box for his postal needs. Licence's can be updated.

Why risk it? ..... for such a nice car just pay up - you'll regret the 1k decision if you write off your car and it isn't covered on a technicality.

mate if it wasnt for my job I prob would!

I just realised the question clearly states "Where is the car usually parked at night?"

Whats stopping someone from saying "ok I reside in sydney, but 12 days of a fortnight im up at my dads for work" and if I get in an accident "oh, it must have been in one of the 2 days im in Sydney"

The question doesnt ask you anything about what your residential address is, just where the car is parked at night.

I bought a flash merc when I was on my p's. The insurance was going to be around $3K so I put the car in my old mans name and got myself put on the policy as a second driver. My dad had rating one and because it was my first insurance policy/car I got a rating three. I think after the first year I went to rating one too. The insurance cost was $1K then down to $800 after the first year, I was living in a real whole of a suburb too. The insurance company was readyplan.
