Default New Alan Jones Supercar....

AJ is having another crack at a signature car..... I don't believe his previous attempt was all that much of a success with the EF/EL, but this I think is a little far fetched in what they want to achieve?
I'd soon rather put my dollars behind the JOSS Supercar, than this attempt?

if i had more dollars than sense i'd buy one, just for the unique factor. pity they are so expensive. only thing i don't like about it is the zonda rip off headlight style. they should have followed what koniegsegge did with their last outing.

Thats pretty cool imo. As they have stressed multiple times its a pre-production prototype. Once they get most of the design out of the way they'll focus on making it look a bit prettier. I can't wait to see the finished product, with the blown LS9 it should be an absolute monster!

And someone please find me a brand new Ferrari for $270k... I'd love to see it

Side profile screams Lamborghini Diablo.
I think if I wanted an LS9 powered car I would buy a ZR1.

The AJF1 was designed and engineered over three years by Gold Coast electrician
and refrigeration engineer.......

Not such a confidence inspiring statement, but if the car passes ADR's then
we assume it should at least be the quality of a Great Wall... ?

Worlds fastest production car is powered buy a chev, so i don't know why you are whinging. Just like a De Tomasu pantera, if you screw the engine up there is no need to take out a second mortage for a replacement. Sounds like a smart idea> Oh, but i forgot, its a chev, so its a boat anchor...how silly of me.

And integra lights? same thing, the more of the shelf parts the better, its way cheaper to use a set of ADR approved lights then to create some new ones. Did you know that even the Lamborghini Diablo had 300ZX lights in it? Did that stop anyone buying one?

So, When you come up with a smart, informative critical post, please continue.

But nevermind...

Its a shame that there are people so ready to put down things, where is the encoragement? I thought we were aussies?

I hope that this all goes ahead, Nothing much has happend since the Bolwell Nagarii and Giocatollo...

This car might have had a chance in the late 80's to early 90's at best. But it will be a disaster if that's what they intend to put to market. Even if it's a pre production model to show it off to the media this car would be showing the best they can give and it looks like a home made kit car.

Encouragement is one thing, but it's just plain not all that nice to look at. I'd love to see a really cool Aussie supercar, but I just don't think this is it.

The engine is going to sound sweet, especially with the wick turned right up, no doubt about it. And why not use Chev power? Good, cheap and plenty of power. You don't need some freaked out W16 to make good HP.

The front end looks like it IS a cheap kit car with those twin round headlights sourced from Repco and the less said about those silly trailer blinkers the better.

The front windscreen looks like a slab of glass, which it is I guess. No curves or style to compliment the bodywork. The side view of the car is better, but to me it just looks like it's trying to copy someone elses work.

The dash/gauge layout looks like I made it. And seriously, what's with the stitched vinyl looking crap on the centre console?!!! The whole dash for that matter is in the same cheap looking crap. It might be some fancy leather, but it looks cheap. It looks like they lifted it from Habibs RX-3.

And then you have that handbrake.....turn your head 90*....... it looks like an old black guy....what's with that?

The tail lights will always get a giggle because they are from a slow Honda. If you have to steal someones lenses do it from a car that has some cred to begin with.

If I didn't read that it was an aussie design, my guess would have to be the Chinese are now trying to clone a Ferrari......poorly. Even the front brake calipers look ****y. Any FPV/HSV has a better looking set of brakes on it.

And for nearly $300K, I have a very long list of cars I would buy before this one......not that I have $300K for a car mind you, but if I did it would go elsewhere.

And don't make out that those who don't praise heap on it that we must be tall poppy bashing, I like Allan Jones, never heard of the designer, I just think that it's not a very nice looking car no matter who made it.....And that IS being an aussie, telling it like it is.

But PLEASE don't let Jeremy Clarkson see it like this, I can only imagine what would roll of his tongue!

Hey!! My car has those tail lights. And it's not THAT slow.

Interestingly unique tail and headlights cost an absolute fortune to engineer (ask Aston Martin & McLaren).

Interestingly the new Bolwell Nagari uses DC5S Integra taillights instead of the AJS's DC2 Integra's. And the Bolwell has a unique windscreen so that it has a unique look.

I suspect that the AJS is a development of the Redback?

I think it looks good, while not as modern as a Veyron or a Zonda...

It does look better then some of the other unique sports cars, like the Noble M12, Spyker...

Very Diablo-ish.

That would be like buying a car from a company run by farmer who repaired watches and steam engines and then did electrical engineering........

Would anyone here do that?

Henry Ford, anyone?

The AJF1 looks good, IMO. Bit pricey for me, but then so is an FG GT.

I did not know the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was powered by a Chev motor? Nor did I know Chev had started producing W16's? Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me!

I actually don't mind the look of this AJ Fusion, the tail lights definitely need to go though (that horrible Japanese/Supra wide ugly look). It certainly has the 90's exotic look going on, but there were some great looking cars in that period. Also I think he is a great bloke for continuing to put his heart and soul (and some of his massive wealth) into cars, a true enthusiast.

I think the car looks great to be honest.

Having said that, I also think it is around 100-150k over priced.

Why the production limit? Perhaps they could have lowered the price if they were allowed to build more.
