Supercheap autos

I don't usually go to supercheap autos, only if i have been to auto one too many times in one day, but i have noticed everytime i go in there browsing and getting what I need, There is a message that plays over the P.A, security to section A.
Now sometimes I am the only one in the shop or maybe 1 or 2 others in the shop but it seems everytime.
Now are they saying that over the pa because they think I am going to pinch something?
Never hear that message in other shops only supersh*t.
Anyone else come across this?

Don't be offended, they could assume you are a test shopper checking up on them.

I wouldnt take offence. My background is retail, in a store I used to work which shall remain unamed, we used to have a Code 10 .... meaning a super hot guy had walked in. Code 5...boss has left the building... you get the picture.

More of a staff gee up than anything.

I learned the other day that "Code Brown" is a real thing at hospitals. And yes, it's for an "oh ****!" moment.

Yes, some calls are legit. Coles had 'RED JEZIBELL' which meant all male staff to the front if I recall?

When I worked in a discount store we had a guy that could do famous voices, people would look around thinking Bob Hawke or Sylvester Stallone were on the pa announcing specials.

They were fun times!

I didn't know it's fake in fact i get conscous about it and take offence.

The underground Kmart at Footscray VIC used to do this all the time. The recording always sounded so clean and slow and out of place compared to all the other PA announcements, it was so obviously fake. I've heard The Reject Shop do it also.

Speaking of Supercheap Auto, they were selling $8 large fold out tables overnight and unfortunately sold out very quickly.

Odd. I don't recall ever hearing those calls before. Must be only the Supercheaps in Aus that do it. I'll have to listen closely next time.

It's usually just a load of crap. At my old work they literally call security checks every 30 minutes, had a little log at the front to remind people. We had no security personnel and half the cameras didn't even work.

Reminds me of the time when a store detective followed me all around Kmart once.
I was on to him pretty early on and made him follow me all around the store including women's underwear, went to auto section and paused at the end of an isle where he couldn't see me, waited a few seconds and "accidentally" bumped into him by walking back the way I came from with a very sarcastic apology. Stopped following me after that.

Friends of mine owned a shop years ago that had a liquor store (big town in the NT) and when the locals wandered in, staff would announce over the PA, "Price check on a box of Cadburys Roses", so all the staff would come out on the floor to ensure they didn't lose any stock.

she said it is part of the Radio stream, throughout the day.

It must be some sort of anti shoplifting technique
