Default Yet ANOTHER fatal crash invloving a young driver.

Another Commodore into a pole. There was a group a while back who kept blaming the poles.

a couple of disturbing statements there

"they were thrown from the vehicle on impact"
"the vehicle split apart"

Not good,

I know exactly where that place is. The adjacent roads along there is where most trouble happens. and where one place. that i agree with where the unmarked cars sit.

This is just stupidity.

We need a place where people can get it out of there system and not on the public roads with others in the car.

Oh thats right the speedway is gone and Port Stephens Council canned the planned race track.

I say send all the poles back to Poland! :

On a serious note. Formula One identified a long time ago that solid objects on the side of race tracks were asking for trouble. Although the speeds on public roads aren't as high as on a race track, the dangers or hitting solid objects such as trees or poles are just as real. I know that removing all of these objects isn't practicle but something must be done to reduce these types of accidents.

people will always make choices to suit themselves. don't feel sorry for the idiot behind the wheel...we are better off without people like that, feel sorry for the guys who had to clean up the mess.

Hitting a fence or larger solid object is often better as it disperses the impact rather than concentrating on and maiming the structure of the car. Sure removing all poles is not really possible, however, could it possible to implement a contoured springy material of some sort that sits in front of the poles and helps deflect the direction the car takes? I know this would mean big bux for the government though.

what track did they can? I know there were plans for one at Raymond Terrace for many years but it never seemed to go through.

I was brought up going to the old Speedway from when it was first named Jerlideree Park and long before they allowed anything public on it. the demise of racing in Newcastle is my biggest disappointment. Not that I live there now but if I did ... lol

It was a passenger that died. The driver will forever know they are responsible for it. If only it would serve as a lesson to others...

Seriously there are just too many poles and trees to implement any sort of removal approach. Besides I'd rather these morons hit the pole than drive through the front of my house.

Default Ambos, Police, SES, Towies... LEGENDS !!

My thoughts always go to the dedicated people who have to front up to the scene and deal with the carnage. :newangel:

You will never convince me that these people are paid enough.

I know I was foolish in my younger days, more good luck than good management that I never had a serious stack.

If only we could get drivers to think about what they are putting at risk - their lives ! And what the families have to go through after...You wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy.

I knew a guy who had a 300KW twin turbo VL (some GTR motor). The car had drum brakes on the back and rust holes around the windscreen.

Education combined with IQ and attitude evaluation is the answer. Some people should not get a license until they grow up, full stop.

Oh man, after seeing that pic, i've seen what has happenned to people's bodies in lesser accidents than that and it is utterly shocking, maybe, they could set a campaign on TV where they release these images yet sensor the dismembered parts so the viewer can only guess to the carnage. Will scare people into driving carefully.

They tried that sort of thing with smoking with the pictures on the pack and on the TV. Doesn't stop a smoker. I still smoke and I reckon the pictures are dirty. My mate just goes over the picture in permament marker lol.

It's because people have the "it wont happen to me" attitude.

Consider this, last night a 61 year old died in a crash too (http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/news/re...YUlEPTc5Nzg%3D)

Man dies in crash - Hunter Valley

7 November 2006

Singleton Police are preparing a report for the Coroner after a man died in a single-vehicle crash last night.

The crash happened about 5.45pm when the white Mitsubishi Pajero travelling south ran off the road and struck a rock wall on the Putty Road about 38km south of Singleton.

A 61-year-old man was assisted by passers-by until ambulance officers arrived but he died at the scene.

Two small dogs in the vehicle at the time of the crash sustained minor injuries and were taken to an animal hospital for treatment.

The Putty Road was closed till 8pm while police completed their examination of the scene.

The driver is believed to have been from Muswellbrook.

I dont think this bloke was a P Plater. Definately wasnt young. Thought it was worth mentioning given that all the emphasis seems to be on young drivers these days

There will ALWAYS be fatal car accidents while ever there are cars. The mere fact that they make front page news shows just how rare they really are.

It is a terrible thing but it is life. We all die.
