Hi guys , I found a Mk 1 Cortina 2 door with 289 V8 owner tells me is a factory fit , where can I check chassis numbers, cheers Leon

Hi. I think thats the same as saying the V8 engine I put into a mk3 zephyr was a factory fit, I did it in a mates factory in Coburg. Cheers MD

Hi. If it was factory fit the engine number should match the chassis number and it should have a 5 bolt bellhousing and a generator as I doubt that ford engineers would source the late 64 motor for a car that had a run from 61 to 65. Cheers MD

Don't the MK1 Cortinas have an engine code ?
Try http://www.cortina-mk1.com/identify.php, and others I'm sure. Never ever heard of a V8 Mk1 Cortina factory approved (someone can prove me wrong I'm sure). There were some Mk2 Cortina Savage (approved?) conversions, with an Essex V6 3lt IIRC. |

Mk1 Cortina was never fitted with a V8 from the factory. They had 1200, 1500 and Lotus Twin cam.

If you do or don't buy it can I have some photos? I've got one that will be a future gasser for the Motorplex. Would love to see what mount/suspension items have been used.
