I love his comment, "it's not something that happens often". In other words he's admitting that he frequently does it (speed) but just 'not often'.

As the minister concerned he must set an example of just how dangerous this is by resigning from parliment. Or is it actually not that dangerous really, well except to revenue... |

Before this turns into a "polly getting caught" bashing, I wonder how many people here instead of just trotting out the usual "revenue raising" mantra, might actually see some benefit in putting pressure on this "insider" to actually bring about a positive result. Rather than just lambast the guy from an annonymous forum (that I would guess he doesn't subscribe to), use the opportunity to lever any sympathy for your cause with the aid of this newly awakened "law breaker"

Is it jut me that thinks it's awfully convenient that Vic has announced it is reviewing ALL of its speed cameras and introducing 'transparency' to the system, just after the Minister was nabbed speeding?
Guess he didn't have any confidence in the accuracy of the 63 reading. |

It will be interesting to see just how third party and non biased this investigation will be. Wonder if they would have the guts to come out and boldly label it a complete revenue raiser for the government if that was the verdict. Can' t wait

Peter Ryan is a actually a pretty decent bloke, one of the few politicians who say it like it is.
What we need is someone this senior to show how stupid and unfair the current system really is.

Suspect it was actually a XB GT that he had, not a EB GT since I cannot remember a 2 door 351 EB. |

it was a 60 zone, so 3kmh over!
Plus I really wanted to ring up when he was on the radio saying speeding is dangerous as "around 100 people a year are killed because of speed." Now that is any speed to fast for the conditions (or too fast for the person driving), not actually speeding. I hate that statistical error they never mention! |

I once travelled at 69 on a 60 zone and I’m lucky to be alive. My car could have exploded and killed me, as well as everyone else in the area.

Doesn't feel good to be a target does it? Stale drivers? Please. To suit some young kid with an EA wagon and his inability to drive you want to remove the entitlement of half the nation to hold a licence? Grow up. As for Peter Ryan, I have to disagree Fullnoise; Peter's an absolute bastard. He is Mr Politically Correct and Mr Softly Softly. Infact, he's so soft that it's a miracle he's managed to sire children. As former police commissioner of NSW, he ruined our once fine police force. Thanks to him and his politician mates, all of the senior and seasoned police left the force, as they watched young idiots just out of Goulburn get promoted before them because they had a university degree in criminology. Further, he set up the Police Integrity Commission, which set about giving criminals an extra option on how to get back on the streets. Whatsmore he's more interested in spinning the message than the actual facts. Mark my words, Victoria will go backwards in law and order thanks to this clown; just like NSW has. Finally, just before the end of his tenure, Peter Ryan was on Holidays when one of his officers was shot and killed. Did he break his holiday to attend the funeral? Nope. Not his job apparently. If you don't believe me on this, ask any NSW police officer who worked under him what they think.

No problems mate and no need to apologise. We had this guy at the height of his Napolean Bonaparte phase when as Police Commissioner he was security boss of the Sydney 2000 olympics. He set up his police integrity commission, which saw dozens of NSW police officers take their own lives. He then went on to Athens in 2004 to advise them of how to fall *** backwards into some luck whereby he escaped any terrorist threats. Never mind the fact that Sydney 2000 was before 911, and Greece being three years after that tragic event he was not so enthusiastically listened to. Nevertheless, after little Napolean was ignored on several key issues he came back to Australia (he is actually a Brit) and set designs on being Police Commissioner once again. NSW baying for his blood meant he had to set his sights geographically south which is why he is now Police Mal-administrator for the Victorian police. After all, our last export from NSW police to Victoria Police went well didn't it? He'll set up a Police Integrity Commission in Victoria faster than Angelina Jolie adopting jungle pygmies from Africa; the intent of which is to hamstring the police and move the police force to a police service, police council, police warm and cuddly etc etc. The idea is, by moving the police to the PC extreme, you can adopt the softly softly approach which infuriates the public to the extent they lose confidence, and don't bother calling police or reporting crimes as much. The long and the short of it is, the crime statistics fall (due to lack of reporting) and Peter Ryan is seen to be doing a good job. Sounds ridiculous I know, but this idiot left NSW saying that crime was lower than when he first came here. Even the ABS guy has come out and said it was BS - he reached this epiphone after being a victim of crime himself. Nope, my advice to you Victorians is to lobby to get rid of this populist spin doctoring police commisar before he does any more damage to the morale of the fine group of men and women charged with keeping us safe. Ted Balloon whatever your name is, show some balls and give Victorians real action and not spin; fire that PC loser.
