Default hows everyone going with lockdowns and/or restrictions

hi everyone.

how are yous all going with lockdowns in nsw and vic and act and wherever else. what are yous all upto.

was wondering with the coronavirus case in broken hill whats chance of it getting to south australia.

am only a little concerned because the aunts house/yard that am living with is not setup for me to have own seperate space with its own bathroom and kitchen seperate from the main house and like to have own space.

also because the local mens shed may have to close so will cabins and at moment theyre the only options for me to have own space and a proper shed and am so dependant on them.

what options is there at moment while still living with her without spending your whole centrelink payment in expenses or trying to take on a big loan before having saved atleast 20% for a deposit.

what is a way to get a exemption to have alternative accomodation once in while and what would you need to do and how would you go about getting exemption.

am realising that she will likely have same property her whole life and you got to pay your own way like everyone else has to

whatever outcome is her house will still be primary residense atleast for a while.

due to being happy living with her, if her yard was atleast 2000m2 preferably atleast 1ha then putting a large van with a toilet and shower or a tiny house would just work and it wouldnt matter if it took 20 years to get the property.

also years ago people only borrowed what they could afford for property and saved for bits at a time where as now people will borrow to the max and have a house where they only have to turn the key and thats it and it has everything at the start. why would be like that now. would it becuase this generation grew up constantly updating things and having everything and the best at the start and now are used to it where as previous generations grew up making do and having same things for ages and fixing up or adding later.

there sure are people worse off with things though than us

thanks

I live in Regional Victoria

Not too bad, I have worked all the way through, my job allows me to work at home when I need to. Currently I am at work as some people are 'required' to be at work. As they are on-site I have to be as well as I am a 'first responder' (first aider and emergency warden)

I am missing catching up with our kids, their partners and our grandkids. We catch up with friends by phone regularly

We can meet up in a park with limited number with friends and family though

We have lots of people who are not following the rules here. 14 cars at a neighbours house on Sunday

I live in Perth.
So far we have not been personal affected like other States and Territories, so I count myself lucky, very lucky, but eventually I do believe it will affect us in WA.
But so far so good!

Cheers Billy.

Yeah but look at what’s in WA - or isn’t.
Mountains, rivers, harbours, estuaries, bays, valleys etc etc - bugger all.
Lots of endless beaches, salty lakes and rocky deserts though if you like that sort of thing.

Eyre Peninsula South Oz is clean as. The masks can be a pain but also (as I mentioned to one young dropkick yesterday) a blessing cause I dont have to see your face when I come in here.
I work part time and have no restrictions.

One river - Swan / Canning. Blackwood - pffft.
One harbour - Albany, though Nornalup inlet is good (and Leschenault estuary) and as for Broke - tell nobody.
One bay - Shark.

Well Trev I can see the Swan River from my place
But guess what mate?....its only a metre wide

I am at the end of it, but a nice park and lake full of waterbirds, ducks especially, trying to teach my cat to bring me ducks instead of 10" long water rats, excluding tail, no kidding, he likes to drop em on my pillow alive, bitten twice!...

Cheers Billy

Sorry your comment won't work for deterrence; Western Australia beautiful state to explore with plenty to see and do.
Part of my family heritage is from the gold fields of Kalgoorlie, Boulder & Coolgardie.
I'm thinking of coming over in 2022 for the Lake Perkolilli Red Dust revival which will be one humdinger event.
Cheers

Retrain or reskill yourself to get a better paying job. Save up and buy a place. Do whatever it takes to get it done instead of sitting around wishing you had more money to do it.

car10002 on one hand your thread title is about how we're all going with life/restrictions then leading into living/at home then pre gen current gen mortage's.

Lets stick to life - east coast living with covid restrictions.
No one can say its great but as for my own experience and family we're doing half ok considering.
Were on the north side of sydney with very limited infections thankfully and sitting on 1300sq/m surrounded by national park.
Got awesum walks and a creek running by us - bit of a hidden treasure being just 15klm from the CBD.
I'm pretty damn busy with work and got plenty to keep me occupied at home.
The wife is having her struggles now and then I can see, missing seeing some family but its her aging Mum in aged care that is killing her, apart from not being able to visit the poor women the last few weekes has been confined to her room, there was a covid scare so as precaution they confined all residnets to their rooms.
Lucky for Factime.
My 3 kids, well I'll say in general they are ok but I'm sure like all parents you feel for them more so.
A lesson yes some could say experiencing hard times but poor kids nonetheless.
Importantly they are all healthy thats the main thing period.
I just keep reminding all we're in a good space, farfar worse elsewhere and those who are really battling and suffering.
I hope it turns around for the better for all in the near future.
Keep safe peoples.

Work wise I’ve been very lucky since COVID as we’ve never been busier. I guess with everyone travelling by car at home they need their car parts. At the very start of covid where we had the national restrictions we had one quiet week where we thought we’d be let go, the next Monday we started doing overtime and we’ve never stopped.

Wouldn’t mind being able to have people over though. I’ve got a freezer full of meat that I was supposed to smoke right as lockdown 5 started.

Regarding your questions in houses, you cannot compare today’s market to previous generations. The difference between wage growth and property price growth is bigger and more sustained than its ever been. Trying to save a 20% deposit is pointless as the prices outpace your savings. Get in as soon as you can and pay extra repayments where possible.

I hadn't seen that announced yet. Thanks you've just made my day, week and month.
Cracking event in a great place. The best motorsport event I've ever been too.

Yeah first world problems in WA.
I’ve got way more work than I need and have only worked a week in a mask so far this year.
Wife can’t visit her blasted dog overseas.
Neither of us has family so that’s not a problem but mates over east aren’t visitable really - could go but ya never know if you can get back home without drama.
And home’s many miles from Perthvegas so if / when it gets delta’d I can lurk in safety (though work won’t be possible).

Well only been locked down since Friday so nothing like the rest and haven't left the house since except on that day to get supplies and to take out the rubbish and check the mail.

I wish I had bought a new computer and chair because I'm using my laptop which is not great for my work (used to dual 17" monitors) and my chair is office surplus so the cushion is ****ed

But you have to be grateful for being able to work from home when many cannot. I'm busy as **** so that will occupy me.

One week turned into 3 weeks real quick before the first week was up so who knows what it will be like by then. I do miss talking **** with the boys in the office and just taking the car for a drive.

Tassie....no masks...no lockdowns...no covid yet.

Life is pretty normal, no impact except we can't get off the rock.

but we also have highest fully vaccinated population of all the states.

If it does get here it will kill plenty...very high elderly/retirement demographic.

Last person I would give my money to is that whinging **** Gerry Hardly Normal

It's more about deciding what I want and not really having a driver for it until this lockdown. Plus shortage of all things with chips in them.

Had a mental health expert come talk to us today at work, his name is David Beeny. Look him up.

Reckons one of the most important things (amongst a list of about 10!) to do during lock down is make a diary and plan for all the exciting things you are going to do when it's over.

Apparently gives you a sense of something to aim for, otherwise you start thinking that all this is all for nothing, and get depressed.

The way the politicians are going on in this country they will keep us in lockdown more than we should be compared to the rest of the world.
WTF is there to look for when they are taking away our dignity, and just wait until we get to the required vaccination rate; I will bet you bottom dollar it does not end there!

T3 don't get me wrong I have plans when this is all over but in the meantime it is just s*** at the way they are treating us.

Hang in there. Many friends over in London have been in longer lock downs than we have, they saw no end till a few weeks ago, and look at them now. Covid doesn't even make top of their news any more.

Well there you go! just shows you our politicians are big a** holes at the way they are treating us, blind Freddy can see we have to live with covid and subsequent deaths from it.
I would say the majority of the public realises this and accepts this but the politicians are so out of touch with reality
