Gday Guys , Im Thinking of Putting a Bench Seat in the AU sedan , just wanting to get your thoughts on it ,
Would have to mould it around the Auto but would only lose the Box part of the Console Cheers Daniel

Why? What's the point? To do it properly, you need to go column shift and foot operated handbrake. I honestly can't see any advantage in doing this, since no-one would be able to sit on it anyway.

If you want to do it, remember the utes had a bench seat option. All it was is a second seat that attached to the passenger seat.
But the question is why???

if you can find a bench seat im trying to find one for my ancle to put in his work ute stock standed ba he lives in perth he got in touch with ford (nuford) they said they are hard to get so he has asked if i can souce one from over here (albury) but even im having trouble

Hahahahaha ... this thread is getting funnier and funnier.
Don't get the bench seat ... I drove a new XL ute with bench seat ... and it's not comfy I can tell you ... then you have to relocated the handbrake next to the door (looks crap) ... and get a column shift put in place. Not worth it. Now 4 buckets would look cool ... have seen a few imports with seperate Recaros in the back ... looked cool ... but would need engineering as you are changing the amount of seats in the car.

i'm looking at doing the 4 bucket conversion. and putting an armrest/console in there rear. its a long long way off because i cant afford it. but the idea is there. i just need to pull off the back seat and have a look
but one of my best mates Dad is an engineer. so engineering is easy

I dunno what 4 buckets in an XR would be like , but the old for Landow/Ladaue (or however you spell it ! ? ..lol ) coupe was released with 4 bucket seats and was an awesome layout , were a nice car for their time. I recon the Xr would probably look good too providing the space between the seats is layed out right. gl.

Just put a fairlane rear seat in with the bucket style side seats and the extended armrest thingy with cupholders in it. Find a way to have the armrest down permanently and there is your 4 seats with no custom work or engineering nesessary
