Best value for money, probably a Crane Cam? Or the histall. Where do you want your car to be improved? Down low? Middle? Upper Range?

That said... in reality fauxpas is right.. The chip is the item to go for first.. for overall drivability (VCT especially) the chip was like getting the ultimate tune up for the road. Its all good with the stall and I love it but its not a "600km a week car" sort of mod.

Casper - the V8 is not VCT.
Get the AU edit done, then get a Hi-stall to match the engine characteristics. Not good getting a 3000rpm stall if you make max power/torque at 2300.

With a 175kw V8 in the Fairmont the cam is probably the first and best thing to do. Talk to XR8ute he was pretty happy with the 2030 Crane I think it was he did on an otherwise stock 200kw AU XR8.

The edit guys from Extreme are happy to tune a car, and then if they learn anything over say the next 12 months, they will update your edit for nix. That's what I was told, but better off to check it out and confirm first. They need to do this so that they can learn - if everyone holds off, how will they learn?
Twin spots are a good & sensible suggestion. Or at the very least, DBA slotted rotors and some decent pads.

There is so much performance goodies for the Windsor mtr over the OHC six you should be able to get it performing very well. Surf the net or speak to guys like Mike Webb who know the Ford V8 mtr & what makes it perform. |

Agree get the twin pot - I upgraded my XR6 to the BA XR standard brakes, with DBA Slotted Gold rotors and it is much better..
But as JC said above at the least get the slotted rotors and pads.. No point in going fast if ya can't stop when ya need to.

FTG, have a AUI Premium aka Tickford Setup for $1000. You'll need new discs and pads most likely, however.
