Default Damn Hopping Vermin

I thought i'd post a few pics of my poor XR6 after an very disappointing encounter with a bloody roo.

This happened back on the 17th of December, I hadn't got around to posting it because
a. I had no internet access for ages and
b. I just got off anti-depressants(lots of beer) for this little incident.

This happened about 200kms south from tennant creek in the NT, I hadn't seen a roo all night and was just slowing down to stop at a roadhouse overnight, was doing about 80kahs when this bastard jumped out and hit me.

I'm now in Kununurra, the local panel beaters had told me it would be about $3500 for parts alone and another $3000 for labour. Ha, i don't think so.

They then said the labour might only be $1000 after i said the insurance would proberly write it off if it was that much.
Whoops, not gunna use them now.

Anyways heres some pics.

As previously discussed in the Bathurst thread on the other site, a good roo is a dead roo.

The front of my car was a mess, at the time i saw the big bastard lying by the side of the road and as far as i was concerned that was the best place for him.

I went back the next morning and he was gone.
But I think he proberly didn't get far.

No offence to you roo lovers but I hope he died.

Loud Noise = Bad Stuff, keep away Roo

You have my sympathy mate, but you should have at least made sure the roo was dead.

The prices sound about right.
XR Parts prices suck.

Hate to say it, but you got off easy. My mate worte off his telstar a while back. Our XE has cleaned up about 5 of them in the last 15 years and plenty of close calls. 2 of them hopped into the door. Stupid things.

Wait till you hit an eagle at 180,then tell me about your problems, cost me just on $700 for headlight assembly on XR8. Just remember whatever way eagle is facing is the way it will take off.

I hit a roo in the work truck one night working late in the sticks ups near the bosses house, hit the bumper which made of a few mm thick steel.....it was a big fella that I hit and the bumper was bent right back into the bodywork and i was only doing about 45-50km/hr on a dirt road

Not surprised at the damage, them and wombats can do a lot of damage

yep that damage is actually quite good for having hit a roo! still a pain in the butt though...

my missus hit a roo in her old car and it pushed the front bumper right back to the engine!

and rodderz youre right, wombats are shockers - talk about mobile lumps of lead! they are solid little buggers, and good for removing your radiator, then your sump!

Got off really lightly, just a pity about XR parts prices. We had more damage than that after we hit a roo in our old cruiser......with a bull bar.

And I wish I got a photo of those Army drivers with sledge hammers fixing the front of a truck.
