Hi All,

Just thought I would share some info if you are interested.

I have purchased the following ATE items direct from Germany to replace the original pads and rotors.

ATE SL.6 Dot 4 ISO Class 6 Brake Fluid

For your info, here are the original part numbers also.

Original FoMoCo Part Numbers;
- (front) 300mm Rotor - 7G911125EA (Finis 1500159)
- (rear) 302mm Rotor - 6G912A315BB (Finis 1864280)
- (front) Brake Pad - BG912K021AA (Finis 1747043)
- (rear) Brake Pad - 6G912M008GF (Finis 1477803)

Please note the original pads and rotors are due for renewal and the original parts are more than adequate. The benefit of the ATE Ceramic Pads is lower brake dust. All other factors should remain the same!

I will report how they are once received and installed.

Mine are coming up in 20000Km. Plenty of black dust.

I'd be interested on the pricing as well.
I just had 90,000 service an apparently my rears need changing, fronts are fine. They want over $600 fitted for just the rears.

These are just my findings, do your own research to see what works for you!!!

It would cost $654 including machining the rotors. However I was told that they could not be done on the Original Rotors and also the pads that are replaced (outside of warranty) are Motorcraft Pads and not the Original FoMoCo pads as listed / noted above.

So for that I was not interested.

I then looked at options and found that the Original Pads, Brake Booster and all Calipers and ancillaries on the Mondeo are ATE Germany.

I was considering TRW replacements, however I was keen on sticking with ATE.

The front rotors are High Carbon (as per Original front rotors) and the added bonus of getting Ceramic Pads both front and rear was a plus!

As for cost, it would have been cheaper getting the ATE Original Pads, however I chose the "Low Dust" option of Ceramic Pads and including the Rotors and Shipping it was about $250 cheaper than purchasing the FoMoCo parts as noted above. Yes I have to wait about a week, but I am not concerned...

Noice!!! (no not a typo lol)

I too have stock pads on the fronts, my rears needed changing and instead of machining the rotors I just sourced Protex equivalents (~$78ea) and used Bendix General CT. (DB1999) Totalling $224 to square the rear end away.

After 2-3 odd weeks there was stuff all dust on them very happy, but (and it's a big butt) soon after that they started to squeal when reversing (didn't matter at what speeds either) not only annoying but embarrasing. I've only noticed this month that it's stopped. Fitted nearly 12mths ago (man that goes quick). That sucked...now just have to work on the fronts when they are needed.

I get the feeling low dust pads are harder pads and need a little more pedal input, that and any kind of creeping movement from stationary they creak a bit noise wise. I'd like to hear your thoughts when you fit yours in that aspect.

Are the rear rotors a simple swap? You don't need to press bearings in or anything like that? I notice Bendix have a "Euro" grade pad now so maybe that is an option?

The order is with DHL direct from Germany.
I have been tracking it and the order is now in Australia.
So hopefully I can get these installed soon!

Yeah the rotor is independent of the bearing/hub, it has a retainer screw but I pitched those as the RH/R was damaged (useless previous mechanic) straight swap.

So if I am reading you correctly, the full set of pads and discs for the car was about $400 shipped?
(that's all 4 corners plus some brake fluid thrown in too)

The price from Ford includes fitment doesn't it, but I guess you are doing it yourself, so free.

Pedal feel and bite is top notch! (the parts removed were on their last legs)...

Thanks for the post. I'm very happy with the standard brakes apart from the dust! I need new rear pads so might look at replacing them all with ceramic.

I agree. The factory brakes are awesome. The best brakes on any car that I've owned. I'd be more than happy to pay the dealer for new OEM parts if they weren't so greedy.

By the looks of those ceramic pads they not only last longer themselves but don't put as much wear on the rotor either. Probably a worthwhile upgrade just themselves to reduce brake dust and prevent your OEM rotors from wearing out so fast.

Another quick update.

There is no squeal or noises coming from the brakes.
The brake pedal is nice and solid, just like the OEM brakes.

And the brake dust is almost non-existent!

Rather than black dust it has a silver/gold dust that blends in with the wheels, so essentially making it appear like no dust at all!

Washing the wheels is easier too as it just sprays off without having to worry too much.

Overall, money well spent!

Yeah in the MD now, but they were going strong.
Did close to 20,000km in around 6mths and they were faultless.
Brake dust was next to nothing!

ATE are OEM to porsche - they do good !
although I haven't used them on Mondeo, People will be well pleased with ATE - I was.

You won't complain about blue oval pricing once you start pricing OEM P-cars !

Just to update this thread after six months - no complaints.

I can't comment on the wear level, but the new brakes have been working well, no noise and the dust is invisible as advertised.
