Facebook censorship

Anyone else here been banned from Facebook by the Facebook Nazi's? I copped a 24 hour ban last night (Still have another 12 hours left of my ban) which still allows me to log into my account but can't post anything, Like anything or reply to messages.

They don't normally ban people without any reason mate, what did you post on there that upset them?

I questioned them about their so called "Need" for access to the camera on your phone, The mic, Your list of contacts etc. when having to download messenger just to access your messages. I wasn't getting a reply so I turned up the heat some more then out of nowhere copped a ban for apparent bad language when the worst of the language was "Bloody".

Too true mate...They are abusing their powers in terms of political correctness. Anything that may only slightly be on the cusp of political incorrectness and they make sure you know about it. Yet they are free to invade peoples privacy when people download messenger. It begs the question, Who is policing Facebook when they have such powers to invade peoples privacy?

Well I agree with you about not liking access to all sorts of things,
I was sent an invitation to do all that on mine & when I saw the T's & C's I decided not to take it up.
I don't like them having so much access either!

Sadly these days so many of these people are so AN4L about language I am not surprised you got banned.

I have had people in call centres hang up on me when I have rang up complaining about their mistakes when I have been made to wait for over an hour on hold
& said something like "I think this sort of customer service is "bull****!"

Sadly, I can't see anything getting any better.

I'm guessing they onsell peoples details for their own personal gain therefore abusing the trust people place in the hands of Facebook when they sign up.

I do have a facebook account but I don't use it much & I'm very careful what I post on there.

Some of the things I have seen some people post up have made me shudder & ask myself why would anyone post that?

True but that doesn't really resolve the matter of trust and abuse of power by Facebook.
The reason I use Facebook is for the wealth of knowledge gained from the automotive pages and to buy and sell stuff locally.

Solution to the Messenger issue: just use FB on your selected web browser (it will load a mobile version of the website & won't be clunky on your phone). That way you need neither the FB nor Messenger apps, it's far less intrusive.

That sounds like a fantastic idea. I'm not exactly the most computer savvy person so is there a chance you could explain how it's done please?

I actually don't agree with you on that point mate,
I find forums such as this one are a much better source of information
with moderated posts & a good search function of which neither are available on facebook
also you get an idea of who is posting on the forums so it's easier to qualify the information written.

Just open your internet program and go to Facebook website. From memory though you still get bugged to get messenger. If I didn't have to have it for work (group chat) I wouldn't either. Total bull****.

No.

Just go to the FB site using your normal browser.

So, you are just accessing it like you are at home via www.facebook.com.

Log in and you may get some mumbo jumbo about being a new IP and they may email you or send you a confirmation code via SMS.

You will see most of your regular content, but you won't be able to reply to or send a private message as that will require messenger.

The funny thing is, a few weeks ago I replied to a group chat on my phone and it worked fine. Must have been a glitch that night as every time before and after you get directed to the app store to install messenger.

I think you will get asked to download messenger any way you go mate.

They will see you are using your phone to access facebook & suggest that you use their mobile apps & messenger

The difference being with the Facebook and Messenger apps, the phone number is mandatory. The web-based www.facebook.com may ask you to get the Messenger app, but you can opt out, and still use (web-based) Messenger.

Revcore, give it a go on firefox, you should be ok.

At least you won't cop a $180/day fine for not giving all your details

Play them at their own game.

Post everywhere you can and tell everyone what you think of their censorship rules, and repost Yellow Festiva's post about what they can access.

I recently got a ban on liking pages and sharing posts. I have no idea why. The only thing I had done on Facebook in the month prior was report a Holden ad in my news feed because it offended me(their targeted advertising obviously doesn't work very Well

). Sent a message requesting an explanation, didn't get a reply.
