Did anyone watch this on Channel 10 on Friday night? I didn't know what to expect, but within the first few minutes they were showing an old '63 Fairlane (Compact) sedan. Alright I thought! So the "head guy" (someone famous .. who I can't remember) drives the car to WestCoast Customs shop and they basically give up on it within a few seconds and go get some god-aweful Toyota SUV thing and pimp that! Initially I was pretty disappointed, but after seeing them work on a few cars I was actually happy. I was glad they didn't "work their magic" on that sad old '63 ... a classic like that doesn't need shag carpet, DVD screens and all that junk.

Yeh what ever they get there hands on they rice it to the max, that would have been wrong if they done it to the fairlane.
One episode they pimped out a mustang, it looked pretty sweet, but something just didnt fit the aura of the mustang. |

I've seen that episode before on MTV. I wouldn't of minded seeing what they could've done with the Fairlane.

This is a great show and has been on MTV on Foxtel for some time. Fantastic to see some of the transformations they do.

Unlike Rides, there is too much time spent on homies rather than the workmanship

Rides is a fantastic show. They usually really go to town on the engines and driveline too. Some real works of art have been made on that show however I must admit the "rat rods" is one of my favourite episodes.

Rides is awesome, I love the episode where they follow the build of a GT500 replica from Gone in 60 seconds.

Yeah, another vote for rides ovre pimp. What annoys me with pimp is nothing is done to the engine/drive line. Its all just riced up. All show no go basically.
You drive your pos ute in and they rice it up add a ton of weight to it in the form of a pool table and then let it go back out without even looking under the hood.

Sorry but i missed the point where they put a tv under the car!! I was looking forward to seeing the old fairlane get done up and they just brought in a new car and did it up.
Not enough of showing how they do the cars up - more, "look what i can do, bro" sort of show. Wasn't impressed with the show at all, don't think i'll be losing my friday nights to another episode!!

I don't see the point of a TV under the car, it'd be rooted within a week of driving.
The van was nuts though. |

Maybe they could pimp my Cortina, although it’s probably in better condition than some of the other cars they work on. : :
Cheers, Danny

Although the show is a bit of a ****, I still watch it because I love the paint jobs. If they had of painted the Fairlane like they did that crap Toyota, it would've looked nuts.

Pimp my ride is a fantastic show. They grab old rubbish cars, and bring them back to life. By the way, they do touch engines as well, u just haven't seen an episode when they do. What u saw on the tv, were a couple of the first seasons pimp my ride. They are now into there 5th or 6th season, and they have played and done great things with many cars.
Rides is also a great show, but rides is for the hardcore car enthusiast, going through most of the nuts and bolts, and making fantastic cars. In the end, these two great shows are aimed at different poeple, and it doesn't matter if you think that its rice or not, they are show stopping cars, and also road legal cars, which is far better then what they were.

I think it was series two not series one. At one point when the owner of the van asked for flames out of the exhausts. One of the homeys said they got in trouble for putting flames on a mustang in series 1. So dosnt sound like series 1 to me if they be talking about it as if it was in the past.
Word!

I am pretty sure you will find it was season three (at least that stupid pick-up with the pool table is) and I believe they are up to season four now?
Oh, and I don't even think the "homies" have much to do with the fabrication of anything. If you watch, there are always these geeky dudes in the background doing the real work. "Yea bro, I'm choosin' some pimpin' 22 Lexani rims.." "Damn Mad Mike, that'll be phat!" ........ You've officially been Pimped!
