Default Manufacturers statement of origin...

I have a question that may be of interest to a lot of us on the forum.

When a Falcon or Commodore is built, do Ford and Holden issue a manufacturers statement of origin (or certificate of origin)? If so, do any of you have it (those that have bought brand new and custom ordered their car)? And I am not referring to the certificate that FPV or HSV issue for their cars either.

Here is an example from Honda in the US:

As far as I can tell, that there is the only proof of ownership of a car, yet I don't have it (and I bought my first FG brand new).

First time i've ever heard/seen this. i assume australian imported cars either get a Import certificate or that little compliance plate that QLD use.

The reason I ask this is that I was just going over the rego renewal letter and the "Certificate of Registration" does not indicate title of ownership. I did some hunting around and found a heap of information about what I had written above.

Pretty sure those Statements of Origin are to link in with the dodgy "title" system they use in the USA, where the legal function of the VIN number/compliance plate is moved to a piece of paper that gets lost/stolen/misplaced/used to roll a joint.

If the certificate of rego isn't proof of ownership, then surely that certificate is?

Why not ring Ford, instead of asking here where no one has anything to do with it.

Thanks for your valuable input davway

I was hoping to see if anyone had any information as a buyer of a new car and could assist before I called the Ford CSC.

I guess when the dealer first registers the car there would be paper work from Ford or dealer, blue slip info etc, then you get the rego and receipt.

I was thinking that initially davway, but I've been doing some research and it seems as though the Bill of Sale isn't proof of ownership.

I'm going to give the Ford CRC a call right now.
--------------------------

EDIT: The CRC is absolutely useless. I asked whether Ford Australia creates a certificate or statement of origin for every new car that rolls off the line. She had no clue what I was talking about. I asked to be transferred to someone that may be able to help; they were worse.
