Focus OR Fiesta

Hello everyone as the topic reads I'm looking at getting a Focus Zetec or Turbo deisel and or a Fiesta XR4 for the wife. Outta of the 3 which would be your choice and why?

Asking cause she'll only drive small cars.

I would take the XR4 for the great little car she is. But if you want room I would go the TDCi Focus

It depends on how the car is going to be used and how much you want to spend, they are 3 very different choices.

I have had the pleasure of owning a Fiesta (back in 05),

And now have UPGRADED to an 07 Focus TDCI.

Trust me when I tell you, you cant even compare the two classes of cars in terms of drive, handling and ride comfort.

The focus, particularly the TDCI is just a much better car.

It feels safer too - on the road you dont feel as confined in the focus as you do in the fiesta.

My $0.02 cents worth

Thanks for the feed back everyone.

The wife really likes small cars and she does like Fiesta but I'm more likely to get the Focus for the room cause we have to young children.

I have my car booked in next week for it's first service I'll check and take them all for a drive. I'll post with result late next week.

If you've got kids (i've got 2 little un's) you won't want anything smaller than a Focus.

The Focus is the "right" size.

Focus gets my vote too. small car, but you can cram a shitload of stuff into it. plus the ride is smoother, less likely to bother little 'uns...

focus would be my choice as well. if you got kids or if you play golf, you won't be able to squeeze a stroller or golf bag into the boot without letting down the rear seats in the Fiesta.

I would go the TDCi as well. Has heaps of go and room! You really need to drive one to understand.

also, they are great value at the minute tdci is 25k with the safety pack thrown in..

Well yesterday I took my car in for it's service drop it off and went for a walk. along the way I stop at VW and checked out the Golf TD, very nice car and pack with heaps of safety and plenty of room for the Kids. Very nice

Moved on to Subrau and looked at the Impreza not to bad, but the child restrants are in the wrong place. NEXT.

So moved on back to Ford to check both Focus and Fiesta.
I'll start with the Fiesta nice little car would suit the wife to a tee as she loves small cars. As someone has said before no room, Boot an not much leg room in the back for anyone over 4 foot, LOL

So on to the Focus, just right plenty of room just what we need and not a bad looking car.(after marker wheels) Well i asked the sales person about the TD, he talked about the car on how good it is and what great mileage it gets. No

All of a sudden the saleperson asked me how many Km's I do each year, I said around 1000km's each year (give or take), well did he change this car is only for people who do more than 25000 - 30000 each year. I told him it's only 20km's to work and back but we drive to Newcastle at least 3 time a year to visit family. The sales person still said this car isn't for you, and then tried to get me to look at the Fiesta. I then told him the Fesita is to small and thanked him for time.

The sales person just though I was just another costumer and had no idea what i was their for. My car was ready, picked up the keys drive stright pass the show room were he was standing beebed the horn and gave a wave, the look on his face when he saw what I was driving and just relised he missed out on a sale..............PRICELESS

Just hold on a little while and wait for the even better new Focus that will be out in Europe in August so, Australia will begin delivery around September or so.. New engines, New interior, improved drive.. cant go wrong. It sure looks all CLASS/

i guess it comes down to if you can wait, from the sounds of it betty is in need of an upgrade.

and i'm waiting for info on those $25k tdci's

After see the new Focus coming out I can wait, but the wife has been on me back of almost a year now so it's time get her off me back and also keep her happy.
As said in the above post I'll show the pics of the new Focus to my wife. Lets hope she can wait but doesn't look like she will.

I'm confused, which is the new focus?

Am I right in saying the one on the right is the update of the current model, while the one on the left (Focus III) is an all new model later on?

You're right on this.. It was my fault for misreading some articles regarding this Focus pictured above.

The "new" Focus we will be receiving and already out in Europe is just a mere small face lift and the Focus III pictured above is the 3rd generation Focus that will be released in Europe mid-2009, so expect late 2009 for Australia.. Actually, come to think of it, this is the Focus that will be produced here in Australia, Ford's Broadmeadows plant

wow that focus III looks like a meaty beast...

...focus facelift should be here by Q3 though, right? looks like the mondeo from the front but apart from that...wait till that one comes out then snag the old model for a runout price
