My daughter has a LV Focus while driving the engine shuts down, the taco still reads what the last revs were at and so does the speedo, she was going around a round-about and the engine died, but the radio stayed on the taco still had 1,500 rpm and the speedo still had 25 Kms per hour showing, she rolled to a stop on the side of the road and nothing changed and the dash still locked on last readings. While waiting for help she decided to wipe the dash down and bumped the hazard button the speedo dropped back to "0"the taco dropped back and car could be started. The car is a manual had a new battery fitted 3 weeks ago new plugs and coils as well

I had a set of FYRLYT 5000 spotlights on my LV Focus and it didn't like the current draw and it would do some crazy **** with them on for extended periods, exactly like what you are talking about, all electrics cut out, but engine still running.
If you have a multimeter, check voltage with the car at idle, turn the A/C on, stereo, all the lights and see if the alternator holds its charge. Also check the earthing points near the battery, make sure they're clean and tight. |

What Franco says ^^^ + also check that the battery terminal connections are nice & tight (especially given that a new battery was recently installed - they might not have nipped up the connections properly).

new battery fitted two weeks ago but problem was there before battery was fitted now reading that they had a problem with the dash and that could cause the engine to shut down as well

found the prob;em in the end the car wouldn't start tried again to retrieve a code but the OBD wouldn't operate had no dash and no start while checking the fuses under dash found out that some one had unlatched one of the main plugs re clipped it back into place all good now. Now would like to know please from 2011- 2012 focus owners is there a fuse cover fitted to them going from the underneath the glove box to the bottom of the fuse panel
