One of the most mass produced vehicles ever... doubt your spac-pack would be worth much... not like GT, Cobra sort of money

I agree. I think some cars are specials, and become sought after which makes them collectable. Limited run model. A car that may have been built with 100,000+ having been sold to the public, just doesn't have any kind of appeal. Well, the kind of appeal that makes them worth 10x what they were wortrh when they were first released.

Your car might be worth something to you. Money, or maybe sentimental value, but an 85 XF which was built in huge numbers, will not be worth much. If it was an ESP, then I'm sure it would be worth plenty now, but I can't see an SPack being worth much at all now, or in the future.

the FG GT BOSS 315. the later build, the better . the last boss 315 would be the collectors car to buy.

FPV GS
FPV F6 (any model)
FPV GT (any model)
T3 TE/S 50

Perhaps the XR6T may become a classic, but not in the same way (or the same value) as the FPV models.

As crap as the XF's were, there still is potential there.
90% of all XF's have already gone through the scrap yard already.
the other 9% would be high Km rust buckets which would leave just 1% as being in good original condition without massive Km's.
It is exactly this type of car that suddenly disappears, you cant buy a good example as everyone just junks them straight to the wreckers thinking there is an unlimited supply when infact there isnt.

Im not saying an XF is ever going to be worth a lot of money, i am saying that one day, whether it be another 20 years or another 60 years, if you have a nice clean example sitting in the shed, it will be a rare car and there will be people that are interested.

You only have to look back to the XB - the other high volume mass produced car.
look how quickly the majority of them disappeared to the wreckers and now the ones that remain in good condition are becoming more desirable and harder to find.

Even go back to the Model T - mass produced, worth nothing, but try finding one now in original condition................

ESP's, they were the last of the ol Clevo, the interior in these cars was magic. They were and still are a great looking motor car and quite unique.

this is difficult to answer as everything made today is mass produced and nothing is limited run the only car I can think of in recent times that was limited run from Ford is the cobras, but afaik these are little more than a sticker pack. I can see some of the cars from the holden camp being sought after the 2 doors for instance. Maybe an aust delivered Focus XR5 as I personally don't see bugger all of them - making them rare in Australia today.

It really depends on your definition of "collectible"...
There are people who collect stamps, spoons, wall ducks etc.
Being "rare" or having a low build number doesn't automatically mean it will broadly appeal to people as a "collectible"...
There will always be small groups of people/fanatics who see "collectability" in just about anything.
The best indicator i can think of to gauge if a vehicle has attracted enough interest to be viewed seriously as "collectable" is its market value having climbed past its original purchase price.
To me that would signify its seen or accepted widely as something special...

When i considered my choice (T series cars) i mean that they 'retain' value better then other 'mainstream' models.
I dont see them climbing past their original price though.

difficult question. if we knew the answer we would have all gone and bought a GTHO when they where cheaper.

Honestly though, i just can not see an XF S pack being collectable. Understand where Davway is coming from, but the XF's have no real history. least the XD & XE's have a race history, they come in a V8 and there was also the ESP.

No differences, Ford has a Aussie made Ford engine in it for a start.

And it doesn't have a ************** Holden badge on it FFS

I would say the EA Peter Brock Falcon will start to achieve modest collector status. One can be had for pittance at the moment which I think is a little surprising.

ROFL - the reason they can be had for a pittance now is because no one wants one. They didn't when new, they don't now, and they won't in the future!

Yeah I'm kicking myslf over selling the super low km (<40k on the clock!) mint condition Calais Turbo in rare colour combo. One day it'd be the only one untouched, and worth a couple dollars.
