Ok... when i spin the old AUII XR8 up from a standing start, i get a fair bit of suspension shudder... probably 70% or the time. Im about to change the springs over to King SSL on the rear, do you think this may eliminate some of this "Shudder" that happens. Hope so.
I believe this is a pretty common problem with the XR8 rear end... anone else had this problem and/or eliminated it? |

There's a 99% chance the rear shock mounts are rooted.
As for axle tramp, yes they do tramp badly...

Yeah, mine tramps like a bastard on standing starts, even in wet. It only has 15 000km on it, all bushes are fine, it just seems to be a nasty habbit. Jumps off the line heaps quicker than my mates HSV, even with the **** end banging.....

yes in the wet ,or cold tyres
I have adjustable shocks ,I ve had herrods springs and a stiff shock setting (bout std ride ht good for corners) and it was really bad , Ive changed to kings ssl's and softest shock setting (more 400m friendly) and it now only does in wet ,in the dry it now drops rear right down and lifts front ,cant wait for my big test on sat!!! |

Yeah looks like its a prob with most of our AU's ive got it too, running Kings Lows in the XR6 never happened with the stock springs. But ive just replaced the rear tyres from Yokohama A539s they arnt a direction tread type tyre to GT radials Champiro HPZ's which are full direction tyres and id say the axel tramp as gone from about 80% of the time to around 10% when i light up the rears.

Hmmm...
Looks like im going to have to just live with it. Either way, im getting the Kings fitted, then i might look into getting Bilsteins all round down the track, i had em on my ED XR6 and they were great... |

I used to get axle tramp in my 5 speed AU1 XR8 - funnily enough, it was worst on the tullamarine freeway, just near the Bulla exit.
